Ethereal Interception. They get to DS in during the opponents turn. Do they get to shoot when they DS in or do they sit there and hope they don't get munched before your shooting phase rolls around?
Same question applies to Nemosor's Phased Reinforcements ability.
They only get to sit there and take the beating like men. I do get the feeling this might change come next edition...
I seriously hpe so. At least then they might be worth taking
“The ultimate philosophical question, “Am I human or machine” is answered by many people, “I don’t care, as long as I am”
- Myron Krueger
I can't see how that would change in the 6th edition. Seriously, what rule would let you shoot in THEIR turn...doubt it. By the way, the trick is not to deep strike in their face, it's to deep strike into a safe place. AND you're getting around having to roll your own reserve dice. You're getting double the chance they can come in early and not sit in reserve all game.
"There is only do, or do not. There is no try." - Yoda
Not so much for the death mark but more for the nemesor if you do this with say, 20 flayed ones they will be able to assault in your turn.
Not to mention you can "deathmark" a unit so that when your Deathmarks do fire, they'll wound on a 2+.
Well, Deathmarks will mark a unit "when they are deployed" not just when they deploy in this way.
The advantages of EI are twofold:
- Immediate deployment instead of waiting to pass a reserves roll, just as DT said,
- On their first (own) turn on the board, they are able to move normally in the Movement Phase.
Of course the disadvantges are that you cannot run them after DS to spread them out, and that they may face a full round of enemy fire before they act.
There are three types of people in this world -- those who can count, and those who cannot.
Also, keep in mind that synaptic disruptors are rapid fire weapons; if you want to fire at more than 12" range, you can't move. Deepstriking to somewhere safe with a 24" range to an enemy unit in your opponent's turn means that the Deathmarks are safe from assault, and can still fire up to 24" in your turn.
wow. all points i failed to realize. and all this time i was sitting here wondering why EI was useful.
