Im really surprised that one of these hasnt already started up. So the question is before us.. how will we counter this new threat? i have a few ideas based on what i have seen and heard about the new crons.
- the return of dark reapers, i see dark reapers being very effective against the new crons notable the exarch with tempest launcher and crack shot.
- banshees, power weapons that will slice through most of their armor but i see T5 being a big problem for them even with doom support.
- i still see dire avengers being our main stay troop choice
- brightlances as the living metal rule has changed we will see that monoliths are no longer immpossible for us to kill with BL's or fire dragons
- seer councils im not sure how much anti psyker shit the crons have but i know the warriors are now 4+ hello destructors! and the wound on 2+ against those seemingly impossible to kill elites.
this is what i have compiled so far and as you can see is far from complete and i may even be wrong depending on what "special rules" the crons have against us. Please feel free to share your ideas i know you want to! \
PS: whats up with these new scarabs ive been hearing rumors about reducing armor for the rest of the game even below av10!!!
About the 'entropic touch', which lowers AV, there are several units that have it and the rule states that when a vehicles AV reachs 0 the vehicle is wrecked. So I think scarabs will be the Eldars biggest bug bear since they have a 12" charge range for being classed as beasts.
The other problem is how Necrons can keep Night Fighting rules in play, this will make it difficult for our long range support like Dark Reapers as you were suggesting.
At least now the Monolith doesn't move enemy units when it deep strikes onto them, it will suffer a mishap. And it's now no problem to kill, just becare when you get within 6" of the gate on it. The gate has a special shooting attack, anything within D6" has to pass a strength test or gets removed from play.

those scarabs need to die asap then lol. The buggers shouldnt be to hard to kill with our scatter lasers. btw how do the new guass weapons work same as before or have they gotten a matt ward makeover?
Fire Prisms are now more destructive against Necrons as Warriors had their AS reduced to 4+.And remember that without their lords they come back at 5+ which reduces the chances of coming back to 33% rather than 50%.
Fire Dragons are (as always) a must. They have more transports with increased armor untill the first penetrating/glancing hit and Monoliths (if not mistaken) are no longer imune to the 2D6 from melta weapons.
....oh, not to mention that we can now be sure that our re-rollable inv. saves will not be ignored by those pesky Warsythes!
C'tan are no more those beast in CC than they were to be but the have some pretty cool upgrades. Not a big deal in my opinion. I love SeerCouncil's I was never afraid of them. T8... what a same I wound on 2+ sorry m8!
Destroyers are not that good. They have one less shoot but are AP3 now. This is a good from our prospective as they can not put the pressure they used to on our vehicles! The reduced AP is pretty much useless. They units that we field against Necrons (Banshees,Dragons, etc) have AS4+ so no difference.
All in all yes Necrons are an opponent that should not be ignored. But I don't think that we have to worry much about them. I mean Eldar are more or less struggling against everything so petience is all I can say untill the arrival of new Codex
What will they add to a new Eldar codex? Makes me giddy with excitement.
But what will the take away or change? Makes me kinda worried...but I'm more excited than worried.
Possibly the nastiest thing for us is Imotek, if he rolls a 6 after keeping night fighting rules in play our tanks will be hit by D6 S8 hits, that will more than likely hurt our manouvrability some what.
