Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was recording my podcast episode on the necron book (link below) and I thought about how I would make my Necron army... lots of tesla immortals, and scarabs with preatorians and wraith support.
Is this going to be the new competitive trend?
I dont think that any of our elite choices have a place in a competitive list with the exception of Triarch Stalkers.
I think it will be along the lines of Overlord on barge, Royal Court shenanigans, immortal spam (though I have been getting excellent use out of warriors with ghost arks), wraiths and scarabs, and annihilation barges with a doomsday ark or doom scythe.
Just my personal opinions based on personal games and the trends that I see net lists aiming towards.
"I am the architect of fate!"
Lychguard have their uses as a hammer to a warrior anvil, but they definitely are not a front-line assault unit.
Praetorians are fairly terrible for how much they cost (WS4, I2, and 1A base....no invulnerable save.....and these guys are supposed to be CC specialists?) and flayers are bad as well (low initiative, rather low WS for a CC unit, not a great save. Fairly easy for a dedicated unit to sweep them...that and they don't have an overly reliable way to get to CC without being shot at for one turn before hand).
Stalkers are very expensive.....but can be fairly useful and are the only source of melta in the codex.
Our Wraiths, however, are seriously underspriced. Just like Purifiers.
