Welcome to Librarium Online!
This has been something lingering in my mind for quite a while. But I had never run into the problem as everyone just accepted and rolled the dice as did I. But the more and more I start to look at rebuilding my IG army (I love artillery), and due to my play style of wanting to make sure this unit is able to do want I want to do with a moderate to high success rate, the question starts to come to mind of how does the disruption pod work against barrage weapons?
The disruption pods as I know it and how I've used it is that shots outside of twelve makes our vehicles count as obscured, however when firing a barrage weapon to determe if the unit gets a cover save count as if the attack came from the center. So if the attack comes the center therefore the attack would count less than twelve inches away and would take away out precious cover save.
I see it working both ways, of we would get a cover save since the attack's origin is more the twelve inches away, or that the attack actually comes from the center therefore negating the cover save. So what are you people's thoughts on this? and how can we resolve this peacefully and with logic and rules?

I, too, play both armies, guard being my oldest and primary army. The dpod doesn't provide cover, it obscures. Therefore, the special rule about measuring cover from the center hole of the pieplate is irrelevant here...
IG since 1999 __ DA since 2002 __ Tau since 2005 __ SoB since 2007
Brets 1997-1999 __ TK since 2009 __ Empire since 2010
You are correct, I simply forgot about it as most of the time all I care is if I can roll that 4+ cover save. Well I guess this is what you get for losing your codex (I swear it disappeared after adepticon). I thank you for reminding me as now I can settle the issue.
To sum it all up; unless the weapon have the 'Ignore Cover' special rule or similar, you'd still get your cover save IF the shot originated (firing model) from more than 12".
Hope this helps
