Welcome to Librarium Online!
Okay so I've been out of the 40K loop for awhile because of school and I'm starting to get back into it. First thing I want to do is remodel my army. I was hoping you guys could help me think of fluff/lore reason for a some ragtag looking tau with a substantial amount of IG parts. Eg a guardsmen count as tau. Sorry if I should of put this in the fluff or modeling section and thanks in advance.
Like Tau taking possession of a once Imperial world and now having PDF serving in the Tau army?
Yeah I thought of that but would they issue the PDF with a wide range of tau equipment? I guess they would if the PDF helped overthrow the imperium on the planet.
I was thinking that the tau borded an imperial ship that went through the warp and by the time it came out they were pretty good bro's. Does it sound a bit too farfetched?
Imperium would of murdered the tau before, during, and after the warp thing; There is no way they'd fight for them.
Also Tau would give them equipment, since guard stuff is kinda crap.
I was thinking more along the line of them working ttogether to survive the horrors of the warp.
By the time they get out their faiths are shakin to the point of abandoning their empires and becoming a band of space pirates.
I would have to really flesh it out for it to be even slightly plausible but if that doesn't work out I've always got the PDF idea.
There is plenty of established fluff of humans being absorbed into the Tau Empire. There even used to be Chapter Approved rules for "Gue'vesa" ("Human Friends"), which were essentially IG with access to Tau wargear.
Therefore, it isn't much of a stretch to find a way to justify humans and Tau working together for almost any reason. The 40K universe is a big, BIG place. Almost anything can happen.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

Thanks, off I go to write some fluff.
Good luck with your project, it sound promising
I really like this idea. I think I'm going to go buy some Imperial Guardsmen and kitbash them with the remnants of my firewarriors boxes. Sort of as a 'counts as firewarriors'.
Would definitely give my army a fluffy reason to always be fighting against Space Marines.
Also, it's been done before. Google search 'gue vesa' and you come up with some pretty awesome conversions.
Gareth is the person I try to impress when I convert and paint.
