So my eldest leaves for university. I was sitting round wondering what to do with his room. Its pretty large. Soooooo.... when he was younger... we had a father son warhammer 40k team thing going on... 3rd edition mostly, some 4th. Sooooo my 5 and 7 year old ( and my wife ) looks at me and ask... "What are you going to do with this room?"
My considered response was..." I was a war-gamer and I will be again!"
I turned it into my warhammer laboratory/game room/ man cave.
Soooooo. Shelves on the walls, paint station made, game tables placed, codex assembled ( I would still buy them and promise my self.. one day again ) ... then... I took my kids through..... the garage and storage unit....
Items and boxes and miniatures that have not seen the light of day in years were unearthed..
I will be posting here for help from time to time, on getting the gaming cobwebs out and just to rejoin the community.
So here is the first project we have going...
8 years ago I went to a Warhammer swap meet.. A guy was selling a large box of Dark eldar... for 300 dollars.. He had given up on the army. I picked it up and set it aside in the queue... never go touched really... now .. with your help.. it can ride to battle.
I have organized it and this is what I have.
110 kabalite warriors with bits to make 30 more. ( 11 sybarites with splinter pistol, and a bunch of splinter cannons. )
60 witches with parts to make 30 more. ( old school witch weapons.. not sure if they represent the new ones,, working on finding that out.)
16 reavers ( no special weapons but ill get them via bits)
1 beastmaster ( on foot. will convert, 7 old school warp beasts)
part of a talos.. not sure if there is enough to save it.
30 incubi ( may be 40, but not sure i can field more than 30 anyway)
Asdrubael Vect ( 2 of them it looks like, perhaps one can be a archon.)
Drazhar , master of blades
I would like to set up a few different army lists, some competitive, some competitive fun and perhaps not seen too much. I am willing to go buy a few more items, such as 3 venoms and some blasters.
I would like to try incubi and the ravagers, does not have to be in the same list. I am thinking if i got 14 more I could field 30, but not sure if its will work out ok.
I respectfully ask the librarium community for advice and suggestions.

I can't really offer gaming advice but your dedication to reigniting your past passion is inspiring and I'm happy to yell encouragement from the sidelines! Best of luck!
However, you may have better results if you dropped 10 and took BloodBrides instead. This would give you a balance between increased strength & increased attacks.
Also, instead of taking 10 in a raider, I can recomend dropping 1 troop in favour of sticking a Haemonculus with them for that initial Pain Token.
If you want to build a list that has at bit of everything in it try to aim for a 60/40 split in favour of shooting to close combat - especially since you have so many warriors. The aim of such a split is to have a force that has enough firepower to handle stuff you shouldn't be assaulting and enough close combat to not be swept by anything that wants to be in close combat itself.
Such a force will end up looking like the sort of lists you might see in white dwarf or the codex and given you clearly have enough support units (those reavers will be tasty) to do it you should end up with a balanced core force from which you can start swapping out units based upon playtesting.
I will give a word on Drazhar though - he is worth his cost (especially when in an incubi heavy force) - just be aware that with Vect being only 10 points more he can easily get overlooked. Both are good, but I would never take both of them in an army at the same time simply due to the insane cost involved.
thanks guys. The first visit by the dark eldar will be a 1500 point debue at the FLGS
ill work on my ideas and post them here.
speaking of,,, Can I have the witches come out of a WWP and have their raider come on the table edge?
You have all the ingredients, however, for a very nice "Raider Rush" list that could be quite competitive without much investment money wise. After using what you got and you get a feel for your style of play (and it just might not be wwp) you can add to what you got as I am not seeing a real collection of wwp units (like beasts, scourges, talos, cronos, etc.,). The bikes however are probably the one unit in the codex that really benefits from the portal however at 1500 points, it would br too hard to sport enough of them to make the portal worth while. On a future note, would love to see you do a "Angry Hornets" list with a bunch of bikes pouring out of the wwp doing the surround n' drown tactic.
As for wyches (remember there is no "i" in wyches) in the portal, very risky to put a cc orientated squad in the portal as I mentioned before, it is an art to get them into cc immediately. I tried them once or twice and so far I am 50/50 in charging enemy units straight out of the portal and when they do not make it, they are obliterated immediately. Remember they are a troop choice that even FnP may not save them all the time and when their number is called to emerge from the portal, there better be something to "get stuck in" with or they will die.
Just my opinion, rush list with a large shooting element is probably the best with what you got at 1500 points.
"On a hunch, I melted them down and inhaled the fumes and read the dark eldar codex again, AND FOUND A BUNCH OF NEW RULES HIDDEN BEHIND THE OTHER WORDS..." [Gardeth on modelling & interpreting the DE Codex]
i read this and laughed i think its great! that soon may be me, i just started college and already i can feel the gamer slipping away from me slowly. anyway man i hope you the best of luck with your army! well back to studying for finals.
Ok thanks to all with the advice.. I am going to post a raider rush list in the army list sub section. Please comment. It will be of the sprite of taking a few of all the stuff I have, raiders, warriors, wytches, ravagers, reavers, incubi.
I think its great that you are getting the opportunity to get back into the game, especially with such a strong collection to get back back into the swing of things with. Your even available to get yourself ready for apocalypse size games once your ready and sure about your tactics with your Dark Eldar. Your collection shows that you could favor either a kabal or cult. but having those haemonculii will definitely give you a boost towards getting your pain tokens spread out initially.
I look forward to seeing your initial list that you are wanting to start with, and btw welcome back!
