Welcome to Librarium Online!
i know the model doesn't exist but the rules and fluff for the night/doom scythe sound really fun (my minds eye has them act like the wraith ships from stargate atlantis)
Have any of you used them yet if so what tips could you give toward army comp? and what scale are your conversions, the book doesnt say thier rough size and thier isn't a real comparison via any of the artwork. Precedant states something along the size of the valk or rhino but owing to the fact thier is no troop compartment it could easily be the size of a landspeeder and i seem to remember that even by bfg standards they were tiny what do you think?
The Doomscythe has an artwork showing the pilot. The tesla annihilator is another clue. If the model will have the proportions of the artwork, I'd guess it's roughly twice as long as an anihilaton/command barge and maybe twice as broad. that should leave it a bit smaller than a vendetta and quite a bit bigger than a rhino.
I Imagine an Eldar skimmer chassi should be about the same size to use as proxy for playtesting
if DE model waves are anything to go on then the real models shouldnt be that far off
I think it's about the same size/chassis as the command barge. That's why it teleports the guys in the artwork, the guns look about the same size
I have been proxy'ing them with my friends Vendettas.
Played a few games with both Doom/Night Scythes. Pretty fragile, easy to take down, usually survive a turn or two before they die. Only time they survive longer is if my opponent has more important targets.
Mobility is great but only problem is that your weapons are 12" to 24". So if you want to fire, you're moving Crusing speed which means no cover save.
That said, I really use them to add in extra Tesla Destructors. I generally have good luck with them and can pummel enemy formations the first and second turns...if they're still around.
Although now I want to try a list fitting in as many Scythes as I can. Just to see how it does.
