Welcome to Librarium Online!
So Christmas day is over and I am the proud owner of 2 boxes of Immortals/Deathmarks.
What does LO think is a better build? Immortals are a good solid core and look great and can hold objectives (plus a Lord with Res Orb makes them almost impossible to shift). Deathmarks also look great but from what I can see are fiddly to use and need a Phaeron Overlord to give them any range with their "sniper" rifles. But Hunters from Hyperspace is a great rule (even though Ethereal Interception will probably get them killed if used).
I am 100% immortals. They are an effective troop choice. They are tougher than a space marine, have better guns (S5!!!), and can be joined by crypteks.
Which wads me onto my next point, which is that you now have ten heads with one eye, which are perfect for crypteks. I also got a load of stuff for Christmas. And I think the best way to make them is to get a lychguard box, and a warrior one. You use the warrior bodies, deathmark heads, and spare pieces for the lychguard to make weapons/bling.
Hope that helps
You can't really compare Immortals and Deathmarks since one is a Troop choice and other Elite. Furthermore some builds really benefit from Immortals as Troops while others are better with Warriors. However, if you do use them as Immortals I suggest you save the one-eyed heads for future use as Cryptek conversions.

Good advice Mr. D
Recently, I also got (bought them my self, though ) two boxes of these guys and I built them as Immortals with Guass Blasters to be the 'bodyguard' of my Phaeron Overlord. Deathmarks just didn't appeal to me, and you said already that they are 'fiddly' to use, but Rapid Fire sniper rifles does seem rather good.
Immortals are an all purpose troop while deathmarks are great for sniping down one high toughness unit or pinning a unit down.
I think deathmarks are great but might want to be saved for a list 1250pts or higher. It is a wonderful feeling to deepstrike a 10 man squad, targeting a carnifex, and burning it down wounding on 2+.
But you will definetly have immortals in every list you make for necrons.
Play testing ftw.
Imma be real with ya'll for a sec. I played last codex so I have a crapload of warrior sprues left over so convert away....
Even if you don't need warriors, ya need scarabs don ya'll? (which you can get 4 of by sticking 3 per base like wounds and having another 40mm) and you can stick the backs, guns, arms and heads on a warrior and voila instant deathmark.
TBH, I also have straight up warriors holding Tesla carbines- they look fine if you cut off the cables and use the other warrior arms with a lil bit o tweaking.
Good advice from everyone. Thanks for the replies. My gut instinct was to go for Immortals and I should always listen to my gut. DeathMarks seem to a situational unit where as Immortals are a good all rounder. Immortals it is then. And (as suggested) my DeathMark bits will become 5 Crypteks and maybe 5 DeathMarks (using Warrior bits).
Another thing you could do is buy 2 box's of warriors and convert them to tesla immortals and 10 deathmarks, make up the scarabs and with the 4 remaining guys get a lych/preat box and use the warscyths from that to make 4 lords this will save you alot more money as well and you just got ur self a huge army for a 2/3's of the price this is what im doing any way
The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving.
If we used Deathmark heads for Cryptek conversions, the question becomes, what is the best unit to use as a body to the Cyptek? By the way, this is a great suggestion in the first place given the price of Cypteks.
