Welcome to Librarium Online!
I remember Necrons used to have a Unit of the Week threads a few years ago about old 'dex and I noticed at least GKs still do it for their 'dex... So, I guess our Codex has been around long enough for people to get settled and we could reinstate this great tradition.
So I'll start with a unit most lists in the forums have but I haven't had a chance to use myself... The Cryptek.
Yes, I see they are a fine unit, especially for long-range anti-tank, but somehow I never seem to have the points to fit them into my lists. Anyway, tell what YOU think about Crypteks and if (and how) you use them?

I almost take a cryptek to each unit i field, they usually bring a ton of good stuff to the squad, my favourite is the Harbinger of the storm. Him with some immortals with Gauss in a Night Scythe usually destroys the vehicle they shoot at. The extra glancing hits and if you are lucky that extra penetrating hit is usually enough.
I also enjoy the Harbinger of Trasnmogrification in a blob of warriors supported by a phaeron, his staff is meant to shoot at infantry and that works well with gauss flayers, the xx point upgrade for Seismic Crumble almost always gets it's uses against fast assaulters, like jump infantry. if they fail their charge they are in for a ton of hurt when 15-20 warriors rapid fire into them. ^~^b
I have yet to try the 4-5 man harbinger of destruction court. I usually just fits 1 of them with a small group of warriors for home objective with a solar pulse but 4-5 of them in a ghost ark would be golden.
In regards to the actual question, I've used a Destruction Cryptek in almost every 600+ point game I've played. This is mainly because, other than a couple of heavy destroyers, I can't get access to any other ranged anti-vehicle weaponry. And since everyone at my club except the Tyranid player always fields at least one vehicle (usually 2-3), I need that extra bit of anti-armour fire. Having said that, I can't recall the Cryptek ever actually achieving much with his Eldritch Lance... :/
I'm still considering taking a Cryptek with a Tremorstave when I go against Orks, I think it might be quite helpful in slowing down the, quite frankly stupidly fast, Orky advance. Hopefully enough to allow the rest of my guys to kill some of them! As for the other Crypteks, I've not even thought about uses for them.

One thing i noticed that caught me off guard when i played against it, was a veil tek with a unit of lychguard and Overlord. The guy who played it didn't have swords and boards but it was still devestating. With a really kitted out Overlord and majority T5 he survived every bit of shooting i had to lose 1 man, and then got the charge straight away. I would imagine that swords and boards, with a Normal lord, MSS, Orb, Phase & WS and an Overlord with 2+, 3++, WS, MSS, would even deter shooting due to that redirect rule.
Do they make necron lists without destro.crypteks w/ solar pulses? Not in my house, they don't! Always an auto-include, as the night fighting drastically helps me control the battlefield. It pretty much gives me a free turn of shooting and my opponent can retaliate with nothing more than angry words. The lance is a bonus, and it has worked out for me on rare occasion (I shot down a land speeder once), but the single shot is too unreliable. It is nice when my troops are sitting on an objective that I can at least get out one shot from the backfield, but I don't take the guy for his weapon.
Beyond him, I'm happy with my experience with the transmog.cryptek for the ability to slow down trouble units. If anything, it helps spread out my opponent's forces, so that they come into my gunline one unit at a time, helping me to focus fire on them.
The others, I wouldn't pick them up for my play style, but I can't say that they don't have their uses. The veil'tek will be the next one I pick up when my army expands, as he's pretty much essential to make lychguard work in a footslogging army.
The main issue I have with crypteks is that I need to fight the urge to pick up all their toys. A 10 point ability here, a 20 point ability there, and your suddenly paying near as much for your cryptek as you are for the warriors he's with.
That and I've never run a whole squad of them. While it wouldn't be a bad idea (4 x ap2 missile launchers? yes please!), the versatility that they add to a basic troop squad (both warriors and immortals) is just priceless. Suddenly your warrior squads have a function beyond 12". Or some anti-assault bite. Or a little battlefield control. Or some added mobility. The list goes on and on.
Most units are focused around how many meq's they can kill. It's a game about who can do the most killing. Crypteks allow you to "change the rules".
Crypteks are easily my favourite unit in the dex, they have some interesting fluff and come across as the sorcerer to the psychics wizard in the sense that they 'harness the universes fundamental forces'!!!As a unit they just bring so many unique options to the table and can turn a dull unit of warriors into something a bit special.
Despite the fact that their Eldritch Lance is an awesome weapon, I have to agree with Klajorne and Triggerhappy when they say the real value of Crypteks is their gadgets and ability to turn a unit of basic Troops into something a new and unexpected. That however, is something that will require some serious experimenting!

Great unit, adds flavor to all lists and brings an extra punch for a fair price. Easy to over spend on them though and some of the abilities are not worth considering but overall a great unit to have.

As to the other crypteks, they're fun but I find the destruction Cryptek to be the new destroyer. For FAR less points than a destroyer you get a S8 lance (that can be twin linked with a triarch stalker!!!) and hidden inside a squad! This makes that S8 weapon last much longer than the old destroyers ever did. Sadly, i never use destroyers anymore. The cryptek wins and has proven himself every time! Terminator killer, HQ killer, tank killer, etc!
