Hello people of this forum, first post of mine is sadly a help request to fellow ork players. I have a mob of about 1500 orks, but honestly for the life of me can't decide on what I should add. I like Blood Axes and the idea of lots of stormboyz and kommandos, but with the units I have I don't know how to make it work. I know some people like lots of kans and bikes but personally its not my style.
So here's what I got:
Warboss- PK, TL Shoota, BP, eavy Armor -100 pts
8 Lootas -120 pts
5 Burnas -mek w/rokkit launcha -80 pts
10 Nobz -4 w/ big choppas, eavy armor -270 pts
20 Slugga Boyz- 2x big shootas, nob w/powerklaw 165 pts
20 Slugga Boyz- 2x big shootas, nob w/powerklaw
5 Stormboyz -60 pts
6 Bikes - nob w/power klaw -185 pts
Battlewagon- Killkannon, 4x big shootas, ard case, deffrolla, armor plates, wrecking ball, grabbin' klaw -230 pts
Trukk - wrecking ball, armor plates -55 pts
What should I add/remove to make the army function better? or at least be more congruent. Any tips would help, thanks
Hello, and welcome. I'm not the most competitive and other will probably know more than me. But from what I've learned with Orks in the past 10 months is BOYZZZZ!!!!!...Anyway. Honestly I would strip your vehicles. And instead of using the BW as your heavy weapon platform add in a Looted wagon with a boom gun. It's cheaper and a better gun. S8 and longer range vs. S7. That would free your BW up to use as a transport, either for your boyz or Nobz. If you take it with your Nobz it would be a DT, so you dont have to take up a heavy slot.
Also swap the mek with the Launcha for another burna boy. Easy enough conversion if that is a problem. They're orks if the think it works, it does .
With the Storm boyz, you are going to need more than just 5, they are pretty much regular boyz with jump packs, so you might want to have them in a big mob.
Something like this maybe. This is using what you have and altering some things:
HQ: Warboss-PK-'eavy Armour-Attack Squig (One extra PK attack? Yes please)-Boss Pole [110 PTS]
Troop: 20 Shoota boyz-2 big shoota-Nob with PK ( x2 ) [165 PTS x2]
Troop:10 Nobz-'eavy Armour-4 With Big Choppa [270 PTS]
Dedicated Transport: Battle Wagon-2 Big Shoota-Kannon [110 PTS] (I left that on so you have the option of a frag or krak missle)
Elite: 8 Lootas [120 PTS]
Elite: 5 Bura Boyz [75 PTS]
Fast: 15 Stormboyz-Nob w/ PK [220 PTS]
Fast: 5 Bikerz-Nob w/PK [160 PTS]
HS: Looted Wagon-Boom gun [105 PTS] (stick this near terrain, and prey to the dice Gork and/or Mork you dont roll a 1)
See how that suits ya.
All this time looking at my codex it never crossed my mind that my battlewagon didn't have to take up a heavy support choice, lol. Anyways I do think that should work, I just need to think of something orky to loot. Wow another heavy support choice......./facepalm why didnt I see this before -_-
*cracks his knuckles* Let's see if I can still do this, eh?
Drop the Boss Pole on the Warboss unless you plan to attach him to a unit that cannot take one otherwise. Each of the Nobz in your Boyz squads needs a BP of their own. Your unit of 10 Nobz needs at least one, if not two PK. When I say need, I mean need, cos itz da law!
Here's why: The Warboss can be singled out in combat, the Nobz cannot. It's really not hard for a commited enemy to kill that Warboss, and if/when they do your unit loses their BP. And the BP is HUGE! Can't tell you how many times a unit of 5-10 Boyz remaining from a big combat could turn the game around because the BP kept them from breaking. Those 5-10 Boyz can charge in support of another unit that's already been stuck in for a turn, providing another round of Furious Charge (which is what wins the combat).. it's all about keeping the momentum going! The 10x Nobz need the PK because.. well, it's our only answer to some very bad scenarios. They're big and stompy, but there's just some things that will mess them up big time if they can't dish some high Str, save-ignoring attacks back.
Now, as for the list itself, you really need more Boyz. They die by the dozens so quantity is key over quality. I'd never leave home with fewer than 4 units, and this is just personal preference, but Shoota Boyz > Slugga Boyz in almost every regard, except in Speed Freakz. BS2 is made moot when the unit is dropping a bucket of ~40 dice each turn, and that's really the key -- they can shoot for two turns before they get into combat, adding way more deff dealin than +1 attack in combat.
Hope this helped!

I've recently become a fan of this thing called Dubstep. And you should too.

I dont use big shootaz on slugga mobs, they`re gonna charge and not shoot, I always take PK`s instead of Big choppaz. I would not take 5 Strormboyz, at least a dozen. As You have only one wagon, it will be shot by everything on the first turn, so 230pts seems a lot to me. I use trukks to deliver, I try to keep them as cheap as possible.
I would use 8 Nobz with 2PK, 1 Pole, painboy (FNP) and all with cybork body as FNP and a 5++ better than a 4+, squeeze in a cybork body for the boss too (rather than TL shoota and pole)
I agree with the others, you either have to go all mounted, or not at all. I mainly have a mix and am now in the process of going more mounted, you either need the speed to get their and in their faces quickly, or the bodies for the slow slog across the board.
