Hey, I have begun to play 40k more now days and so my orks have been in need of expansion. I have today finished off two deffkoptas. Buy before that... here is my army:
Orks pictures by Kuffeh - Photobucket
It is a sort of old army (2 years now?), but after actually playing with it I have decided it needs to have more stuff to make it work. So, below you'll fine the newest conversions to my army:
I am pretty happy, the blue hasn't turned out very well in these pictures (my camera hates turquoise colours O_o ). Ignoring the skin I am pretty happy with the new look colour, he is a tad rough with the highlighting, I just wanted to get him painted. I do like the colour of his trousers, and the red on the shoulder pad worked better this time.
And, I decided to get some conversions on deffkoptas done. And... here we go, two. Oh, and they don't have heads or arms as I'll attach them after painting.
The first isn't that heavily converted.I move the rotor blades back slightly as I wasn't a fan of the angle. He also got a bunch of extra damage all over, and then a big ass buzzsaw. I also now see no idea how he can land, but that's nothing orks care about.
Now, this one. I went to town on. I saw a conversion and wanted to make it work, so I made a plane. Took loads of work and I was finding it hard to find bits for the engine, so it didn't look so boring and plain. I think it worked out well. I have to thank Mr Jones for the idea with the buzzsaw - or in this case a wrecking ball. I think it works really quite well and am happy with them.
I really like that Deffplane, did you have to change the angle of the wrecking ball to make it fit or is that straight off the sprue? Also what piece is that for your buzz saw?
The ork paint scheme is nice, I'm guessing deffskulz? The only thing I don't like is the chainsword, it looks a bit plain.
EDIT: are those wings boarding planks? They look great!

I have been collectiog orks since rogue trader first became available .The ork flesh looks good but...and only a small but ....it all looks a little too clean and new . Now i am not a fan of gore encrusted armour and weapons but a little rust would go a long way to break up the plain and new looking weapons .Another good tip would be the interspursion of a little brass or burn metal to break up large metal areas on vehicles for your deathkoppters. It needs to look worn but not broken is a good pointer to remember .
Hope this is usefull and keep up the great work.
Not really, I'm not going any 'clan' but going my own way. I just like blue a lot. As I said, it was quick. I'll add more to the weapons when I paint more boyz.
Uh how do I subscribe?
If you go to the first post, on top of there you'll find a link called 'Thread Tools'. This is a drop down menu, select 'subscribe'.
I was just wondering about a couple of things.
Would people object if normal nobz were mounted on 40mm bases? I think it would look better and make them stand out more. Also is the nob biker squad still a good option? I am looking at changing things up and getting my nobz+ warboss mounted. I wonder if this is wise, along with a big unit of gretchin to hold objectives, some deffkoptas, kommandos, three squads of trukker boyz.
Space wolves can annihilate nob bikers with rune priests and that jaws ability, which knocks out the painboy. They are still very tough but by no means invincible, so you just have be careful with them.
Regarding 40mm bases, in a tournament scene you may catch flakk about them having a wider charge range or something like that. In friendlies you should be good.

Yeah, the wolves I can see as a problem but I was just curious in general. I know they use to be very powerful, but not sure now. My current nob squad does the damage, but are quite vulnerable when their trukk is taken out.
The bases I figured that be the case, it just never made sense to me that the nob should be on such a small base. He's a beast!
8/10 for the aobr conversions the deff plains awsome but the mek is well not good its the aobr knobs head is too big IMHO and is pose is awfull that flamer arm is a no go its a 2h arm.
Picture him running toward you with his arm up like that its silly even gor a ork,now picture him standing still why is his arm up like that birth deffect ?
Hope i did not come across to harsh seems sub standerd compared with your other stuff.
The meks bits n bobs are nice thoughe looks like some sort of compact KFF .
Swap his head and flamer arm.
