A very stupid question I know, but let me explain...
When I used to play Eldar in the 90's the Scatter laser was a bulky bit of kit that looked not too different from an old Wild West Gatling gun.
I'm now repainting my army and have added some of the newer models to bring it upto date with the current codex and see that the scatter laser is now a lot more streamlined when compared to the original laser.
I've currently got 3 Falcons that I'm about to paint up with what I thought was a brightlance / pulse laser combo, This I was going to use in Apoc games as a Cloudstrike Squadron to increase the amount of lance shots they fire. However, looking at the Saim Hann Falcon in the painting part of the codex shows what I thought was the lance/pulse combo, but states its a pulse/scatter combo.
Therefore my question is, does the Pulse laser look like the new scatter laser, or is it like our old Lascannons that have evolved over the last 20yrs to become Brightlances, or does it look completely different to both with the codex being in error?
The Pulse Laser is the longer barreled version of the Bright Lance. It's what comes standard on the old Falcons, the longer weapon. The Falcon is the only model that has this weapon.
Here's the Bright Lance
The other, shorter weapon on the Falcon is the Scatter Laser. The old Falcons (I don't know about newer ones) only came with the Pulse Laser and Scatter Laser for the model, there weren't options for a different weapon.
Here's the Scatter Laser
Many thanks for that. Looks like a bit of conversion work is in order from the weapon sprues that came with my Wave Serpents.
I'll probably magnetise the weapons on everything anyway, as we all know that the next Codex will end up with S10 Heavy 5 Starcannons, Missile Launchers will have a max range of 6 inches and Brightlances will turn into S4 Heavy 1 without lance, or somesuch shenanigans, meaning that it'll be all change again...
