Welcome to Librarium Online!
Sorry for showing up late to the party, but yes, I just got around to reading the new codex this week.
One of my first reactions to royals courts and the ability to take immortals as troops was (O $#@& yes; SCORING flying circus!!!)
And then.....my bubble burst.....possibly.
"Any number of Crypteks that are in a Royal Court can be upgraded to a single, specific type of Harbinger. Whilst you can have any number of Harbingers of a specific type, each of the Harbinger's unique wargear options can only be chosen once in each Royal Court"
Does this mean I can't have a royal court of 5 Harbingers of Despair all with veils of darkness?
Because in combination with the aforementioned thread about Destroyers; this crushes my soul. Thanks for your help! Now I'm going to go cry and shiver in a corner. Cheers.
no you could only have one veil, although the court could contain 5 despair crypteks.
can have up to 5 of the same type in a court, but you can only have one of each specific item. you can mix and match (say one destro with pulse and another with gaze or one with both)
although for each court you can have a veil guy so you can have 2 there.
technically you can have 3, taking an "overlord" type, then taking zandrek and getting Obyron in the same slot. thus you have one from each court and oby's. but that gets expensive.
could be worse though man, you could have had a book written by cruddace. my poor tomb kings, poor tyranids, poor sob.

"Peace, through superior firepower."
Didn't seem like it was explained above, but you can have MULTIPLE courts, meaning you can have as many Veils as you have courts.

This let's me have 2 courts meaning I can have one court with 5 harbingers of destruction and ONE gaze of flame, then the OTHER court the exact same design. So yes, wargear is the limiting factor PER court. If the rumored 6th edition came around allowing 3 HQ's or whatever, then yes 3 court shenanagins!

I guess I'll have to settle for not having a fully veiled army. It was really only the cool factor. I mean, the table's only so big; and there are only so many places you can veil safely to- it just would've been cool to theoretically be able to teleport my whole force around the place. Now, I'll settle for a static element mixed with veils and max out the FA slot. Still shifty, just not WoWza shifty. Thanks everybody, rep for everyone when I get home on a capable browser.
To be fair, you can always take small warriors squads in Ghost arks (or night scythes) if you want a mobile army to support the flying Immortals. This, combined with 2 Command Barges, Wraiths, Tomb Blades, Doom Scythes and Triarch Praetorians you could have a really nice manouverable army which still rocks the shooting phase =)
Also, themidget is right, Tzeentch Lord, you can take 2 veils and Obyron's Ghostwalk mantle, which is a veil with funky properties essentially, you must've forgotten.
You can still have your dream of all veil troops. A friend of mine is building a veil list with 3 units of warriors, one has the named with veil, the other two has his body guard, an overlord (for 2nd court) and the 2 crypteks with veils. Add in a monolith and you can veil in, if you dont like the landing spot, spit them out of the monolith. While it is not 5 squads jumping around the field every turn, its still 3 blocks. And 20 shots rapid fire (or 10 str5 rapid fire) plus the str8 from the veiltek is nothing to scoff at.
I can imagine a world without fear, a world without pain, a world without war. And I can imagine conquering that world because they would never see it coming.
It's only crazy if it doesn't work.
Either way, I think the Flying Circus with armoured accompaniment will be a very fun and potentially nasty list, especially in higher points when we can combine it with transmog-teks, worldscape C'tan and 2 Solar pulses =D
