I have been working to figure out what weapons to watch for in the game and with what armies. So I took a lot of time and made this spreadsheet. This is just one of like 10 to come to figure out how to keep nids alive and the targets I want to hit. I worked my butt off but it says the chance if say a BS 4 shoots it's 3 shots at a T6 AS3 (Our big guys) it will wound this many times. Example if it's 33% he will have to shoot 3 rounds to get a wound!
Please take a look. I am working on t6/AS2+ T6/AS4+ and T3/AS5+ and T3/AS6+
Updated the Sheet to have "Average Shots needed per wound" so if it says a weapon with 3 shots needs 2 to hit it means it takes 2 rounds of shooting AKA 6 shots. So something that need 20 means it will take 20 guys 1 round or 1 guy 20 rounds to score a wound. This number averages the chance to hit between BS3 and 4 (2 and 3 for orcs)
15 Marines would have to shoot a Carnifex/Hive Tyrant etc to cause a single wound using double tap. A Pulse laser only have to fire 1 set of shots to wound the same models.

Well I have seen a lot of views but no replies. Is this helpful and what units would you also like to see their survivability?
This is just basic analysis that everybody who plays a wargame should be competent at. It informs why you take certain options in certain units in certain army lists.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

Any way to alphabetize the weapons list and make the columns any narrower?
I agree, it's pretty basic stuff. I do this on the fly in my head.
Something more interesting would be runnining things that aren't that easy to take into account which includes rending/re-rolls/force-weapons/scatter die etc. Simple statistics and multiplication doesn't really merit a table. The harder stuff like above would be more useful.
Plus statistics don't mean jack unless you also do an RMS (when running the distribution simulations), distribution (very useful to have), and covariance (should really only be needed for the complex stuff) analysis as well.
