Welcome to Librarium Online!
So, I've finally got round to actually painting something (shocking I know), I had done a test fire warrior using a purple/blue colour scheme, but after a pal told me that it could be the new power ranger I changed my mind...
So I've created an album alongside my WoC album where I'm going keep the photos as I paint my army (incredibly slowly)
1500pts Tau WIP
Really happy with how these have turned out, when I come to do some more, I may paint more of the armour plates SW grey, but I quite like having just certain parts grey
the paint job looks very good and clean. I just don't like the color scheme. You have three neutral colors mixed together and nothing really stands out. I'd suggest using a darker brown color for the cloth to help with the contrast. Maybe a little darker of a grey and the yellow will stick out more. It's just my two cents. Again, good job.
All comments are good comments
I think you're right about the brown, I think I'll give those guys another wash on the cloth to darken it up a bit.
Also I think I'll paint the centre armour piece grey as well, that should make the centre logo pop a bit more as the difference in colours is greater (grey -> orange as opposed to brown -> orange) as it actually pops quite well on the gun barrel but the pics don't show it very well
Done a bit if work on those two models this evening, darkening the cloth with another wash and doing a few more armour plates in grey, the chest plate being grey really makes a difference to the centre symbol. Album linked above has been updated
Tau Empire - 4000 Points: 23W/6D/0L - Ko'vash Shi, Tau'va!
Inquisition - 2250 Points: 9W/2D/0L - They are the eye that sleepeth not.
Necrons - 3000 Points: 13W/0D/0L - Death stands above me, whispering low...
Well, I got about two thirds of the way through a hammerhead last night, am happy with the way the brown has come out on it, but not so much the grey... washing such large areas is awful, going to give it a decent drybrush of grey (hopefully) tonight to bring it back up to level and then highlight with a grey/white mix
then its just the oranges to do and the lining.
Potential piccies tomorrow!
Railhead #1 Done!!!!!
piccies in album (apologies for the quality, was pretty dim, will take some during the day tomorrow if I get the chance)
I like the tank much more than the firewarrior. In my opinion it still seems a little washed out or muttled. It could be a bit brighter. I'd recommend making the red brighter And maybe switch the browns to white? As a whole though, big improvement and its well painted.
Due to being manically busy recently everything Tau-ish got put on hold...
However, last week I managed to get my pathfinders done!
12 of the buggers completed and the photobucket album updated
They're all just a small conversion from standard firewarriors - no shoulderpad and a ML unit attached to the side of their carbines (its actually half of a grenade pack)
I think that the main problem that you are having is that you are relying too much on washes to do your work for you. No matter how hard you try this will always leave the models looking washed out. You need some proper paints underneath, not just the white.
