    Dakka army

    Hey guys,

    Been a while since Iv touched my Nids since the new crons came out.

    I'm looking to try some new stuff with them though and have been thinking of doing a Devourer themed army just to change things up.

    Anyone have any experience with a Full devourer list? Something like 2 winged dev tyrants 6-9 dev fexes and a bunch of dev guants.

    Just want to know what people think of something like this and how comparative you think it might be.

    I'm using one Dev-themed army that was lightwight and had been a blast!

    it was on the concept of:

    1500: DAKKA!

    == HQ ==
    Tyranid Prime (1) - Deathspitter, Pair Of Boneswords, Toxin Sacs, Regeneration = 115 pts.
    Tyranid Prime (1) - Deathspitter, Pair Of Boneswords, Toxin Sacs, Regeneration = 115 pts.

    == Elites ==
    Hive Guard Brood (3) = 150 pts.
    Hive Guard Brood (3) = 150 pts.

    == Troops ==
    Tyranid Warrior Brood (145 pts.)
    Tyranid Warrior (3) - Deathspitter, Scything Talons = 105 pts.
    Tyranid Warrior (1) - Barbed Strangler, Scything Talons = 40 pts.
    Tyranid Warrior Brood (145 pts.)
    Tyranid Warrior (3) - Deathspitter, Scything Talons = 105 pts.
    Tyranid Warrior (1) - Barbed Strangler, Scything Talons = 40 pts.
    Termagant Brood (22) - Devourer = 220 pts.
    Termagant Brood (21) - Devourer = 210 pts.

    == Heavy Support ==
    Trygon Prime (1) - Containment Spines, AG, Synapse Creature, Shadow In The Warp = 250 pts.

    == Total ==
    1500 pts.

    its a massive firewall.... can take AV 10 like hot knife through butter.
    and works well vs any non-tanks army.
    the trygon DS near the big tank and with str 7 on charge will tear any tank apart.

    will get minced into pies vs str8 blasts(make sure the are destroyed ASAP)

    An awesome amount of Dakka!

    Only thing I'd say is that I'd split the Hive Guard broods into three groups of two, not two groups of three. This gives you more (much needed) anti-tank coverage. Assuming they all take out a vehicle a turn, that's a potential 7 extra vehicles dead for the same points cost and same number of units.

    I keep getting the 2x3 instead for list-building sake... need to remember to change that before the copy-paste

    Interesting idea, I really want to use carnifexes with Devourers but I just can't justify the point cost... (I hate you GW)

    Drop 'em in a spore. They just work like a charm.

    At over 200 points for that setup I dont think it's worth it, were it 150 including spore I would do it but otherwise I just don't see it being good enough, i might try it in a fun game but I wouldn't expect much out of it for those points

    2x TL Devourers does a lot more than you may suspect. No matter. You already have lists presented before you, use those (or variations of those) and you would do just fine.
