How do you deal with Necron Gauss weapons when they pretty much guaranteed wreck/kill our vehicles?
I actually have never really had an issue with Gauss weaponry. Against raiders the rule is useless, 6s glance anyway. So it makes the rule redundant anyway.
There is nothing more annoying when your Wyches with Plasma Grenades get "Always strikes First" for their combat drugs!
Not really. The gauss special rule doesn't help their troops except against ravangers, and for the stonger guns rolling a 6 will pen. Tesla are more effective because they will still glance/pen on a 6, but a 6 to hit will give 2 more auto-hits to help.
Played three games against the new 'Crons, and not once did I feel that the Gauss weaponry had some huge advantage against my skimmers. Don't worry too much about it, as the rules of these weapons are designed for hitting and locking high armor value vehicles.
Innovation suffuses this hobby like a tea bag in the boiling water of play.
Necrons will most likely be going Tesla if they have the option.
Take nightshields and gauss becomes an almost non-issue. DE are a solid counter to many of the best Necron lists out there.
I must admit that I didn't play many times vs Necrons but I believe, that as always a good priority with each weapon is key: take away long range and mobility and you have the upper hand through mobility and good range.
As I see it: SC vs infantry and Dark Lances vs vehicles. Once all vehicles are gone or Scarabs close in: target Scarabs with Dark Matter weapons.
I played myself a game and found out how stupid I was not to unload the full missiles of a Razorwing on a Scarab swarm. These weapons are ideal with their Insta-pop ability in 5th.
I should arrange another game, just to take advantage of this before 6th kicks in.
Yeah Night Shields are the way to go.
We who have seen war will never stop seeing it....In the silence of the night, we will always hear the screams....
Flickerfields anyone? And my reasons are as follows:
We play an army that you want to get up close with the enemy, not only that you don't want to be running around after a combat cause you tend to just get shot up. Night shields will only be good if your 18" away, flickerfields are always there, jump in the raider - Fight - Jump back in the raider and move on to the next fight, I can see the point of night shields if your taking razorwings and void ravens though
