I was wondering... what are some good tutorials on learning how to paint Necron minis? I am, admittedly, a complete novice at painting, and would really appreciate some thoughts/advice, especially since the units I snagged are fully assembled and primed now.
i use a very simple theme. base color them first, then paint over that on their armor plates, chest, heads a second color of your choice. i used boltgun metal as the base and red for their armor in my color scheme. its simple and looks good. more detailed necrons you can add details to, like overlords or lychguard.
but a two color scheme is very easy and nice looking with necrons.
Since they have those nifty power tubes, I was thinking about something along the lines of Tron. Maybe mixed with chrome or something bright and shiny. I know... I'm crazy for a newbie... but hey
you get out of it what you put into it. i offered a simple scheme, but the world is your oyster. (and by world i mean paint schemes)
True that. I appreciate the comments, too. Mainly I'm looking for techniques instead of schemes. Things like how to blend, shade, glow effects and stuff like that.
PS: What color is your primer? Black is ussually good for dark colors and white for brighter color.
Here's a good one for glowing eyes

Learn base coats, washes, and drybrushing and you'll be 6 to 7 out of 10 paint scores. Search those in google and you'll get lots of hits, add GUIDE to it and even more.
