thinking of doing a gold armour and white flesh with the new GW paints using the painting guides from GW website gold and white from there any advice and comments be a great help ><
Gold armour? Wow I'd like to see that actually done well on nids! What's the background to this theme? Is it some variation of Leviathan? What's the story?
will be similar design to leviathan, but gold instead of the black
Hive Fleet Nagendra
(Snake-Indra Hindi name composed of the Sanskrit elements naga snake and the name of the god Indra.)
lost to the warp for a millennia, Hive Fleet Nagendra finally broke free of the warp and the horrors within, hive fleet awoke slowly racked with pain from the
years of being a play toy of the gods of the warp, the hive minds first thought was to rebuild and start a fresh, it slowly moved threw space devouring planet after planet,
preparing for new dangers of the universe.
it came across a planet made of gold with a lost colony of terra. Hive mind commanded a hive ship to start the process of consuming the planet, the people below had no
real defensive force on the planet. the people of the planet where wiped out within hours, in the next few hours the planet slowly started to die and collapse, the hive mind
noticed a change in the hive ships appearance and the warriors in the hive ships changed aswell they all became a gold colour a new horror had been born ready to consume
all in its path
short bit about them sorry about spelling not my strong point.
will post pics when i get my swarm lord this friday and post some pics when i finish any suggestions on the colours to use would be a great help
I reckon a copper/brass colour would suit Xenos better.

Armies: Dark Elves, Black Templars, Tyranids, Iron Warriors, Imperial Guard.
was thinking these from gw
bases coat-Balthasar Gold
Wash- Agrax Earthshade
layer 1 - Gehenna's Gold
layer 2 - Auric Armour Gold
Drybrush - Golden Griffon
sud look quite nice
You probably won't need that dry brush or the wash (unless you plan to wash the skin that colour for some better colour uniformity).
The carapace can be done in two ways.
1) Abaddon Black with feathering whatever the base gold is now followed by its first later then it's second layer.
2) Whatever the base gold is now followed by a feathering of the first layer then the second layer, maybe even an extreme highlight of new range equivalent of Mithril Silver. You might want to use the wash with this one.
Whether you want subtlety or in-your-face kind of painting will decide whether you have gold highlights or just gold throughout the whole carapace.
I would also recommend that you undercoat white so you can just wash the whole model with the colour you desire, and then all you need to do (in regards to skin) is to highlight Ushabti Bone then Screaming Skull after that, leaving the wash in the joins and splits and recesses. You may want to have a Zandri Dust base for more depth of colour on your larger creatures.
Really I think it could work. Just make sure you're smart about it and don't go overboard.
cheers think the first option is a good one, i was thinking base coat the carapace withe the gold then wash for depth and feather with the 2 layers and then with a thin brush highlight with a silver on some edges (may leave silver out)
been looking at the skin a few guides spray model white and then use just one wash and looked really good so may go with that , until i get the models and start playing with the scheme dnt know how it will play but am very glad to know ppl are intrested
like the skin like this with the gold maybe quick n effective, i dnt want the gold to be to shiny or in ur face wanna subtly hint of the gold will try a few ways c whats best
