Just wasted aload of money or reacon i have a good foundation for the startings of my army ,
Iv just bought,
Codex tyranids (Obviously not a bad choice at all had to buy it tho as i have been using a downloaded version as im in Afghan at the moment)
2x Battle force
2x Gargoyle Broods
3x hive guard
1x ForgeWorld winged hive tyrant
What u guys think good start or not?
Allso if you dont know battle force includes
3 Tyranid Warriors, 8 Genestealers, 16 Hormagaunts , 16 Termagants , 3 rippers,
other than the carnifexes( which im just not a fan of this edition, sweet models though) youve got a pretty solid set of foundations to build a decent nid army on there. though to be honest i would have bought a single battalion and tried a few small games with its contents to see what you like most out if it and if you do want to play nids. nids are not an easy army to play and is a steep learning curve so have patience.
and good bit of advice for nids, take all advice with a pinch of salt. what works for you may not work for others and vise versa. all the nid players in my store have vastly different points of view on their nid armys and the units. there are few units of ours that are compleately awful. and nids suit experamenting and list changing so have fun trying out different things. hope that helps ya!
Yea man , cheers well i thought there is no point doing things by halfs lol in for a inch in for a mile kinda thing lol so went all out , im adament im going to play nids been playing for around 13 years now well not so much for about the last 6 maybe 7 tho i started to stick to fantasy but i wanna get back into 40k and i love the background and stuff of nids
cool! what colourscheme are you going for? i do reccommend using army painter under cost stuff with this size of an army, or an air gun as its a lot of plastic. also probably try to make the majority of he scheme using the new gw paints(if you use gw paints) as you dont want to start using the old ones you have and getting stuck when you enevitably run out of the colours you need for this army.
carnifex's just like any unit can be optimized into a competitive list, it just requires the right one (reserves is sweet) as far as the rest goes, it seems like a fairly solid base. and welcome to the hive!
Everything you have there can be used. You have a very solid core there. So what that's:
1x Winged Tyrant
3x Hive Guard
6x Tyranid Warriors
16x Genestealers (boy are you going to have fun with that)
6x Ripper Swarms
If you use all of these (exc. Ripper Swarms) then your lists are going to look very similar to mine. You made a very good decision on that purchase, my friend.
Good good I'm glad I made a good choice I spent around £400 lol got a new case and stuff as well thought I'd treat myself just dreading getting home and seeing it all in 1 pile lol
i hear you on that one, thats why i hide anything im not working on from myself(which is quite a few various models) prevents me from loosing the will to paint. i also paint different minis in between to break up the monotony of it all.
I'm thinking of a kraken looking kinda color same one on the how too "dip" tutorial but with abit more detail
