mycetic pods, for some of our nid armys are an essiential add on to keep he shooty elements alive long enough to get their shots where you want, to tie up enemy lines, distract opponents, encircle them when they think they are surrounding you, etc. anyhow due to the fact gw hasnt gave us any model to represent these invaluable assets we eiter have to buy from elsewhere, or scratch build. ive had a look through the board and seen a few nice examples but though we should collect our attempts and allow each other the chance to get some new ideas. so lets see what you got, the good and the bad, and especially the uguly. muahh!
I like it... alot.... idea stolen.
Kill them all and let the emperor sort them out.
That's clever. Unfortunately I have not yet built a Mycetic Spore (I just use a random MC that I have or a spare drop pod), as I have other things in my life that take priority over hobby. I believe JvK mentioned in a rumours thread that 'nids are getting another wave sometime later, which may include a model for the Mycetic Spore. I'll wait for a year or two then see.
steal away. just dont do it inside, lol.
i grew bored of waiting on gw making theirs official. also does anyone rember in 3rd ed in he white dwarf where they made a mycetic spore out of a styrofoam ball, lictor scything talons and death spitters or some such? i cant find it in my backlog...
I have been looking into building a couple of these, and I've found a couple of ideas, Here are a couple of pictures and the links aswell.21-74-thickbox.jpgty_pod1.jpg

If He is For me, Who shall stand against me
I have been working on 8 drop pods and I found the easyiest way to make them is to take the little water bottles.
and surround them with Air Dry modeling Clay .
You don't have to use tools but you can and all you have to do is make it look a little bulbously to make it look like a spore. Since I use cluster spines on mine for 10 points I am making mine spikey by adding medium sized thick nails in the clay. Use the clay around the nails to taper them out a little more.
nice idea, any wip/finished shots?
