Welcome to Librarium Online!
hey guys, Im kinda new to 40k (have played SW before this but not for long) and are starting a tyranid army. I have a batleforce, a box of raveners, a hive tyrant, a lictor, a carnifex, zoanthrope, broodlord and some more gaunts. Tips, advice tactics, advice for competitions, which units are best and why, and some 1k army lists would be so helpful to me, as I've been having trouble learning what best to use and how to start.
That would be super helpful, and could you share experiences and guides with me if possible

Hello and welcome to LO, especially the Tyranid subsection. As an appetiser to the main feast (it's important to get the right mindset first) you should have a good look around the "stickied" Tyranid threads first of all in order to get an idea of what sort of advice is on offer, and for you to identify those best qualified to supply you with the best words of encouragement. You should find that you can glean a maximum of good intelligence from all the admins, leaders and members so you won't go short. However be wary of asking daft questions that have been answered before as this gets tiresome for us all, so it is in your interest to carry out a modicum of investigation of your own in order to show that you aren't just trolling us with bone questions!
There are currently many downsides to our chosen race through either the rules changes over the years or due to a thorough kicking from our new enemies (Grey Knights, Necrons, and so on) who are designed to do so, but don't be put off. There are lists, combinations and models available that will get you what you want with the minimum of effort, and lists that get the job done regardless of what you field, but the main effort will ultimately come from how you handle yourself and your swarm. It's an encouraging start for us to see that you have an idea of how 40k works, especially regarding a psychic assault army with the minimum of shooting dice (Space Pups). Hopefully I leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling of encouragement and pass the baton to the main force, having laid the groundwork for your ultimate victory.
Targets to your front are Up and Hold. In your own time, go on.

Very good. I second this.Originally Posted by adamwelton
