So this is my first time posting on a forum ever! Necrons were my first army for 40k and I've played them for 4-5 years! Now that the new codex is out and played tested for a few months i'd see If the regulars on here had any advice! I'm very passionate about them and want to show they are a formidable opposition in 40k! I've read pretty much every current 1500 point list on here for necrons( recent ones anyways) and kinda gathered a force I figure to be average, competitive, and all round able to handle it self! So here it is and plz comment and criticize any and all missings or thought!
Necron overlord: w/ warscythe and command barge
3 harbingers of destruction with lance, 1 harbinger of destruction with lance and pulse, and 1 harbinger of despair with abbysal staff and veil
1 lord with res orb
10 immortals w/ carbines
10 immortals w/ gauss blasters
3 wraiths w/ 2 whip coils
So i'm pretty sure it's right around 1500( 5 points under I believe)! Basically the overlord does what he does best, killing tanks monstrous creatures and objective denial! The immortals with teslas will advance while the gauss blasters will hold the rear with the res orb! The warriors go with the veil tek and either advance normally or pop up and rain 30 flayed shots at anything they want! Also will be a mobile objective capturer and contester! The other crypteks will sit back with their lances and take care of whatever they want( termies, light armour, marines) along with a pulse for some coverage 1st turn! Scarabs race ahead and kill tanks because they are soooo good at it! And the wraiths will either cover the scarabs or the barges! Barges sit back and kill the masses mostly! Maybe shots at light armour( ork trukks ect!) that's basically it, lots of firepower, 3 scoring units, and some anti tank!
well, someone likes exclamation marks! They did invent things called periods to end your sentences with.
Ok, well welcome to the forums, and the first piece of advice i will give you is to post lists in the armylist sub-forum, some of the admins do watch and end posts that are not in the right place.
As for the list, looks pretty solid. The only thing that i am concerned with is deepstriking 16 models on a board with terrain and troops. I wouldn't want to lose the squad to a bad scatter. If it works for you, great. Also, if i did the math right (don't have the book right now), you can squeeze in a ghost ark if you drop the scarabs. Warriors are pretty breakable with their 4+ without an orb to help, and the ghost ark is really a nice bonus to make them live longer. Also it gives you a place to put the squad of cryptecks (assuming that they arn't given to other squads). The added protection helps them stay alive and because the ark gives a wider area of view for them. I can see why you wouldn't take it if you are jumping the warriors around, but something to think about.
Have fun on the forums
i wouldent use the Harb of despair its rather risky and not that great with warriors or immortals.
now if you had Deathmarks or maybe lychguard with him he would be a lot better.
Thx for the advice.( yes I used a period:p) hahaha sorry it's a bad habbit to make everything exclamatory. And yes I will start posting in the army list sub forum just new to all this. I am a little scepticle myself of deepstriking because they can be gone in an instant but it is a nasty surprise for the opponent! also like I mentioned, seeings how it's not a super mobile army they can last minute capture objectives. But I might change. Also i don't know about ditching the scarabs. They are really my only anti-tank unit ( plus the lord). I could possibly drop the wraiths for a ghost ark but then I'm
completely limited to a shooty army with practically zero combat! Thoughts??
I would keep the scarabs but combine them into one group. Less kill points and better survivability.
As for the wraiths i like squads of 5 so i would try to get that or switch them out for more Scarabs
Also from what it looks like you have 6 guys in your royal cort but only 3 units they can go into so you will have a unit of 3 guys that are basicaly a easy kill point. So if you drop the harb of despair and 2 destros you will free up 130 pts.
Basically the idea is to have the lord in one group of immortals to hold the rear they veil tek with the warriors and the other 4 will
make their own group! 4 str8 ap2 shots every turn! I played some with this similar group a few months back and it absolutley destroyed my immortal groups. Might take the wraiths out and put the teks in a barge! 1 large group of scarabs is good but one blast and they are pretty hurting.
i don't think u can put teks in a barge unless they are attached to warriors.
also the blast wiping out scarabs is part of the risk of using them, if you want to make them safer run 2 overlords and get 2 solar pulses or use Imotekh.
also veil tek with Deathmarks is awesome nothing says surprise butt secks like deep striking in snipers that wound on a 2+ to their marked target, o and a str 8 AP1 flame thrower that also will wound on a 2+
