So I have glanced (no pun intended) at the rules for the new ork planes, or atleast the dakkajet, and my first
impression is that a lot of ork armies will be filling their FA slots with these!
the are 10 10 10 fast skimmers so easy to kill but atleast they are not open toppen!
And the way i would kit them out is with an extra TL supashoota for a total of three and give them the fighter ace upgrade!
This way one has a skimmer that can fire 9 twin linked str 6 shots at effectivly BS 3 for 130 pts...
My thoughts: a bargain!
What do you think?
The Dakka Jet
If you have a pair or even a trio of them then I imagine they will be extremely effective at knocking out enemy transports and skimmers (with or without Fighta Ace) and softening up MEQ squads, or absolutely annihilating GEQ's.
The Blitza Bommer
This one isn't so good, and I am sorely dissapointed that the Boom Bomm's AP is 4 and its only a small blast, although I can see it might be decent in a pair again at knocking out vehicles. I would not take the risk of using the Bomms on GEQ or MEQ unless as a final resort because rolling a total of 2-4 on the 2D6 chart either results in the bomb hitting itself or the Bommer just crashing straight into the ground.
This is by far the worst, even more weak, tiny templates (seriously, we have enough of them) at S5 AP4. So you pay 10 pts per missile to add on up to 6 S5 AP4 small blasts. Sorry, but Ill take 3 Kans with Grotzooka's over that anyday. They can't get shot at by everything on the table most of the time, they can be a Kan Wall and when they reach the enemy lines they are absolutely brutal in close combat.
The large blast Burna Bomm is massively disappointing too. It is also S5 AP4 and you need to fly over the target to fire it. The only good thing is that it scatters D6, so against a GEQ platoon it will be very effective, as well as roasting CC Sniper Scouts out of a buildings, but I really think GW dropped the ball on this one and there should of been a linear Napalm esque area of effect. And if the stats had to stay the same, the fire should at least stay until the next turn, because you'd think that if an Ork made an incendiary bomb he would make it so that it absolutely skorches the daylights out of anything it touches and doesn't dissipate shortly after.
I will be getting 2 Dakka Jets (although I will magnetize the parts so they can be Blitza's). I don't use a lot of Fast Attack in my army, as I generally play with a mix of Kan Walls and Battlewagons. Right now all I really take is a unit of 3 Deff Kopta's with TL Rokkit Launchas.

The Dakka Jet is the only one that looked competitive to me. The blitza bomber almost looked like an ork answer for taking out tanks but that one use bomb seems really unreliable for how many points it costs, tho I will want to test them out.
Are the rules for these planes set in stone, or might they change upon release of a flyer book? Really disappointed by the weak bombs, if so.
