I use the warriors from the space crusade box and they're so old none of the guys in my local GW heard of 'em. I just use the bone sword as scything talons. However if you're using the rulebook they count as a close combat weapon so when combined with spinefists or lash whips (also counted as basic ccw's) you get +1 attack.
i want them to bring the bonesword back.. because every nid warrior needs a power weapon. hehehe
Well, we do get them by way of rending claws. If we had 100% ignore armor saves all the time....well that would be a bit much no?
1 in 6 is still godd though aint it with another chance from all those other 2/3/4/5 in 6's on wounding rolls
Rending claws are better than many people think...
Of course, only one of six attacks will benefit of them, but that's (assuming that you hit 4+) one third of all attacks that hit, or one fourth of all that hit on 3+. If you take into account that you don't have to wound with such an attack, then this improves them even more. In case that you would both hit and wound on 4+, one half of all wounds that you cause do not allow armour saves.
If you take into account their special rules and the fact that you can wound anything, regardless of its toughness (a wraithlord? ridiculous!, rending claws are great, especially at their cost.
