It seems that stealth teams are not worth their points compared to elite-choice crisis suits. Both are 30 points, but crisis suits have the option of taking additional equipment, more than just a burst cannon. Their speed is the same, but the crisis suits also have an extra wound and better stats. Is the stealth team's stealth armor really worth the difference in firepower and versatility? I wonder...
While the Stealth suits are unable to bring more firepower, they do come with the Burst Cannon included in their base cost, meaning that they cost at least ten points less than a crisis suit. Also, the stealth ability itself isn't bad, and infitrating is always neat as well. Finally, the fact that they count as in cover while being assaulted (and thus strike first) gives them an important edge over the crisis suits. That being said, it is true that the crisis suits get an extra wound, extra toughness and extra strength.
I don't know. I like the stealth suits, and now that I own six will regularly be running six of them in my 1500 point armies. in my opinion, they're an awful lot like taking 3 firewarriors and smushing them together into one, overall superiour whole. I hadn't really considered them as a comparison to crisis suits, preferring to think of crisis suits as being freed of the need to take burst cannons by virtue of the stealth teams' presence.
Yes, the stealth team and the crisis suit fulfil two seperate roles on the battlefield. The stealth team is an excellent screener and able to wither away at light troops easily. They are, and this shouldnt be overlooked, smaller than crisis suits. That will make it a lot easier to find suitable cover for them.
Crisis suits, despite the thought that they cost the same, will usually cost twice as much as a single stealth suit, remember those weapons cost points too. An infantry killing suit outfitted with burst cannons and a flamer still runs close to twice as much as a stealth suit. However, the real purpose of crisis suits is to take on tough targets with plasma rifles, missile pods and fusion blasters, which ups their cost.
In the end, a stealth team will be able to put out a much higher volume of shots than a similar price crisis team, but the crisis teams shots will slice through tough armor more readily. So send your stealths after low save targets, and your crisis after the harder targets and each will perform their intended role better than the other team could.
Well using a Crisis Team and a Setalth Team the same way is just plain horrible. You use the Stealth Team to sneak about and herass the enemy, maybe take out a leader or something important like that.Crisis suits are better left to protecting your leader or unleashing horrendous amounts of firepower on thanks and stuff.when you think about how differently they should be used there's really no comparison.
Stealth Suits - compared to - Crisis Suits.
A Full Stealth Suit team, will typically run you 180-210 points. I dont usually use the Shas'vre, which I find isnt typically worth the point cost unless you've got seeker missiles. Bonding the team, However is very cost effective for Stealth, as they are very likely to have their numbers reduced threw out the course of a game.
A Full Crisis Suit team, will typically run you about 175-250 points, again, depending on wether you abtain a Shas'vre, and what ever wargear you utilize.
( I might suggest for those who havent yet purchased or constructed their Crisis suits, to NOT glue any equipment or weapons onto the completed model. You can use any number of things to attach the gear and weapons, and later remove it, This GREATLY increases the effectiveness of your army, as well as being far more cost effective, and cool. I personally suggest 1/8" x 1/8" rod Rare-Earth Magnets from A1 Parts. )
Both Elite choices cost roughly the same, but each is used differantly, and some are better then other against certain army types.
VS Ork, Tyranid, and IG Troop Armys, I would use mainly Stealth Suits
VS Chaos, Tau, Sisters of Battle, Eldar, IG Armored Companys, I would prefer a mix.
VS Space Marines, and Necrons, I would use mainly Crisis Suits.
Now I feel dumb for glueing my equipment on...
one with plasma, missle pod, multi
another with fusion, missle pod, mulit (or drone controller, heh)
and team leader with twin linked plasma, missle pod and hard-wired multi (luckily there's nothing to glue for that hard-wired, heh)

well, i dont know much about the tau, but as an opponent the stealth suits are VERY effective. its hard to shoot them and i dont like to assault them except with my troopers (yeah...right), slid save, burst cannon - i want some myself.
Well... crap. I suppose that makes me an idiot for gluing the guns on the crisis suits. At least I don't think I did it too stupidly, with one of them having a missle pod, the other two having burst cannons, and all of them having plasma rifles and multitrackers.
i'm about to start work on riping all my battle suit weapons off, particularly Mr BC + Flamer who is spectacularly useless
stealth and crisis fulfill different roles, i find stealth are great for harassing low armour scaries like 'stealers, IG command squads/heavy weps, banshees and just generally *****ing off the enemy (they're suprisingly effective against 2+ save 1 wound models too just on volume of fire power)
crisis are used for taking down big scary things and tanks
less hate more kittens
hmm. I find my Lone BC + Flamer ridiculously useful. Deep strike in behind the enemy. shoot em and flame em. I wipe out whole sqauds of orks and guard with this, and whole smaller sqauds of marines.
Im going to rip all mine off as well, because im now going to go out and buy stealth suits...from what ive heard they are very effective and if you have a full unit of 6, thats 18 shots...very attractive.
I think a good balance would be a full team of stealth suits and then a shas'o, a shas'el and 2 full teams of crisis suits. Maybe bodygaurds for each of them. (1500 mech tau)
