Welcome to Librarium Online!
I've heard alot about Wych Cult armies, and I would like to know how effective they are in batte, if they are hearder to use or more affective than a mixed DE army or just kabal? I've read some battle reports on them and it seems to me as though you need to have had alot of experience with tactics, DE, and 40k to really use these guys effectivly.
I mainly as this because, i felt kida bad leaving my small DE force all alon to start another army, so i started looking them up again, and i realized why a bought them in the first place, they are my fav army out of all 40k.
Wych armies are pure speed. My brother's favoured army is a Wych Kult. They're insanely fast and ungodly in cc,but they're not very tough and fall hardto heavy fire...if you can hit them. You mainly have to be careful and keep dancing around your enemy, stand still for a second with a wych kult and you're doomed!
any dark eldar army is fragile and deadly. Remember that.
The wyche cults exceed that limit. They are extreme. Therefore, guns can take them down, but they can kill when used properly. THe tactics are much harder, but can pay off if used correctly.
"There is no middle ground. Strike Hard, strike fast and strike first."
because i think i might start one, i was thinking of making it a mostly skimmer army, oh ya, can you also have warriors in there as well, but mayeb just a squad for support?
Having it in raiders is paramount, you don't want your wyches running at the enemy. You can have up to three warrior squads. I would take one squad with 2DL and put them in cover so as to have a stable firing platform against armour and also anchor the line in the first turn. Oh, and try to begin with your skimmers behind level 3 terrain or forests.
That is very good to do, as you don't want them to get shot down.Originally posted by idinos@Nov 16 2004, 086

Many people place them in the open and people complain that they always gets shot down.
Of course they gets shot down, you deploy them in the open!
3 Raiders with wyches and 2 Dark lance ravages can be used together to create a massive killing machine, and if one of those ravages have Distigators, then they would also be effective against big hordes.
Though 3x8 Wyches in a Raider, 2 ravages and a HQ (a hq around 150 pts) is like... 865 pts.
and that is enough room to fill something else in.
with warriors as elites in a wych cult army, do the points change at all?
The points do NOT change. Basically, you take Wyches (the elites) and Warriors (the troops) and switch their position in the force organisation chart. There is no change in points or options besides the 2-6 Troops (Wyches) and the 0-3 Elites (Warriors). Hope that helps!
EDIT: Also, on page 6 of the Codex, on the left-center of the page right to the left of Dark Eldar Wych Lord, you have the restricted Troop types. Keep those in mind as well.
ok, thnks. I cant wait to start this army its gonna be sweet.....now for an army list.........
