Alright I'm interested in seeing who here uses Raveners or gargoyles as for me it is a very tight choice that depends on terrain, opponents army, etc..
Oh, yeah if your like me then please explain your choices for different situations. ^_^
" Some call the Eldar decadent. If that is true the Imperial Army could do with that kind of decadence."
Last Words of Colonel Brin, executed heretic 463.M38
a warrior can do anything that a ravner can do.
you'd be hard pressed to make a gaunt that can match a gargoyle.
Take my words with a grain of salt, i am not the tactical genius i think i am!
Warriors with wings, rending claws, scything talons, and all stat biomorphs except enhanced senses.
Costs the same as a ravener with rending claws and scything talons.
Plus gragoyles are pretty much a waste since gaunts are ment to be meat sheilds and need to be low point costs, either that are really pumped up for actually doing damage.

Ravener models are cool, and I use mine with ScyTal + RenClw... However, Leaping CC Warriors are more effective in 4thEd and a bit cheaper pts-wise to boot!
Gargoyles are a very good deal for the points, the problem arising from the expensive models... Though it's not that hard to convert them from plastic Gaunts.
Wouldn't bother with Winged Warriors... They're not good enough shooting, and I wouldn't take CC specialists which can't enter terrain thanks to being Winged.
"The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all biomatter consumed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be devoured."
I love the Ravener models so I jsut had to pick them. The gargoyles are okay but id rather just using hormagaunts. CC leaping warriors are the way to go.
The Hive Mind will consume all.
Gargoyles, hands down.
Deep Striking with bio plasma/fleshborer for less than you can biomorph yourself.
I don't use them because of the $$$ and the annoying models themselves.
Never, ever, take raveners when you can take leaping warriors.
Right now, Raveners.
That's only because of the fact that brood sizes are 1-6, and would cost you $10-60 bucks (not counting having to special order Monstrous arm sprues for the Rending claws)
Gargoyle broods are 8-32, and that would cost you $40-160 bucks for a squad.
If GW ever deceides to make plastic Gargs, I'm sure my tune (and plenty of other finance consious 40K players tunes) would change in a heartbeat.
But no matter what they do, the Ravener models are way cooler than the Garg models.
Gyauayuayuayua! Ja! Ve vill crush da little girly men in deir little girl men awrmor! Ve vill see owur enemies driven befowur us, und hear da lahmentaytions of deir wemen. Und from owur home planet, de stayte uf Califowurnia, ve vill lawunch owur mighty offensive. Even if you kill us, ve'll be bach!! Gyauayauyauyauyau!
-Arnoldunit Schwarzenecronegger; when questioned about the impending doom he would rain down upon the heads of his doomed enemies.
I have both Rav & Garg in my army but depending on sceanario & terrain determines what I'll use.
For this poll, I had to choose the Rav as their models are just so cool! (Y)
I use gargs and raveners in my army. (Y) I love the idea of sharp and quick nid army. However i have vote for gargs cause i think they are more pont-cost effective.
I the other hand the two units have different role in the game so you cant compare it. I use the gargs to engage the enmmy soon and i use the ravener to kill high ponts units with worst iniative than raveners.
i like reavs cos of the model and how i use it with a 18" carge they are really effective i use them on the flanks to kill anaemy firebases i have found that they are surprisingly effect againset tanks as they can get round the back easilly and at s4 + rending claws they can make short work of 10 armour on the backs of 90% of the tanks around + they can get their fast
