I have thought of and used a new tactic wich works rediculously well. Vypers arent much by themselves, they usually get shot down pretty fast. Which I have fixed. Take a squad of 3 fully decked out vypers. I'm talking EML, Shuriken cannon upgrade, spirit stones, holo field, CTM, and Star engines. Then give your farseer or second farseer on a jetbike and give it Guide. Have the vypers pop in and out of cover and shoot with that blessed CTM and go back in cover. You can do this even at long range with the 48" missile. Now 3 Guided Krak missiles at enemy armor ought to do some heavy damage, and it does. The vypers also are excelent at troop kill, 9 Shuriken cannon shots and 3 Plasma missiles will demolish allot, besides space marines. Now if they get shot at, there is the holo field and spirit stones, or if you sense an attack just Star engine your @ss across the table! So all of this gives you a unit that cannot be shot, is lightning fast, and packs a sledgehammer punch. I know it costs alot but man oh man does it work well, this must be gold info for you Siam-Hann players
I know not what weapons World War 3 will be fought with. All I know is that World War 4 will be fought with sticks and stones.

While they are guided by a 2 farseers on bikes.
OMG 3 krak missiles at (approx) BS5 for only...
Vypers w EML, all upgrades (x3) = 480
Farseers w Guide, Jetbikes (x2) = 210
690 points! OMG, that tactics rocks. You could get approx 10 Vypers w EML for that cost.
You cannot win, for to fight us is to give us power.
You have three sets of abilities on these Vypers, none of which really function with each other.
If you're using the star engines, you're not shooting. So your weaponry, Guidance and CTM are wasted.
If you're using the crystal targeting matrix, you most likely won't be worrying about return fire, so the holo-field and spirit stones won't be necessary.
The unit is useful, but it seems to me that it is certainly not value for points.
Yeah I bet your opponents are loving that massive hunk of points used on something that can at most knock out 3 krak missiles.
Its a waste of points the following are pointless, star engines, shuriken cannon and the jetbike farseer. I have 3 vypers with eml in my army and with a 48" range there is no need to get into shuriken range also your best defense is skimmer moving fast rule even with stones and holo field being able to limit hits to glancing is vital especially for open topped 10 armour vypers whick means the shuricannons should never be used any way you have plasma missiles for infantry.

Also, to the best of my knowledge you can't go back to the same spot you left from using CTM. So you better hope there's other cover near by that you can go to, other wise you're holofields are going to be getting alot of exercise. And I'd rather have a couple more vypers than a few really decked out ones. After all, in the war of attrition, horde mentality rules.

umm... i hate to burst the bubble. but i don't think that farseers can get onto a jetbike. you know far too old and proud to go racing around the skies. otherwise ulthwe would have the best hq omho

Farseers can take any wargear listed in wargear section....
Guess whats in the wargear section.....jetbikes...
