I am wondering If i can buy the deadmask and then to only use it when i want to, sometimes I want them to run away and others I want to be stuck in CC for another turn so i dont get shot. What do you guys think?

i think so. you can choose not to use a powerfist if you'd rather strike in initiative order (a last ditch effort against my banshees- second round of combat- force commander) so i don't see why a harlequin can't temporarily turn off/change his mask... (Y)

I'd go with that, but the thing is that powerfists are weapons, and Dread Masks are wargear. Does that make a difference?

If the wargear entry includes phrases like "may roll an extra dice for fall back" then it is optional, otherwise it is compulsory.

So then what do you guys reccomend? I like out running squads of space marines and the like. As i only kill a few, and with dreadmask, and harlequins -1 LD, and the hallucinogen grenades andotehr -1. they almost always fail. But sometimes i dont want to be left in the open. In fact sometimes i like it when i leave a few guys out of the 2" range and hope they pass ld. Then they cant shoot me and then i beat them up in THEIR assault phase and then its my turn.

so thats my strat. but what is better, outrunning them or staying in Close combat.

Depends. If you can get into combat with a second unit, or out of sight, then run for it. But if not, you're liable to be shot to bits, so staying in combat's good. It all depends.
