Welcome to Librarium Online!
Whenever i play someone they always seem to call me cheesy, or they say my army is cheesy. My friends say i can't play my res orb. and veil just because they are too cheesy. They are powerful items, but its not unbalanced i dont thing.
wat do you guys think of this, are the necron items unbalanced? Is the army Cheesy??
No offense intended (well actually quite a bit IS intended) but your firends are sore losers. Or idiots. Or both.
Cheese is a term meaning unfair and is tossed about too frequently. A bunch of guys speant months making these wargear and items and got paid to do it. I think they contemplated if it was too good or not. They are NOT cheesy. Your friends are too lazy to find a way to beat these items so they claim cheese to stop you from using it.
Necron will stand for eternity.Their race has survived aeons by trading their very souls for metal bodies. Now, they will live on through eternity and will vanquish all life from our universe. For they are Necron. Flesh is weak. The machine will rise!
My playing pals calls Necrons a "beginner's army". Oh, how I laugh...
(I always pwn them.)
And you have to remember that the VoD and the Res orb cost 100 points together. That's alot.
a lot of things get called cheesy by people who wate time on making such stupid arguments while instead trying to look for a solution to the problem.
they are however too lazy to do this and make up for their incompetence by screaming cheese over the top of their lungs.
That depends. If someone ran 3 monoliths and a c'tan in a necron army I might have to slap them. Then again I may just go around killing the few necron units they would be able to afford with the few points left and phase them out.
The VoD is definately a very annoying attribute of necron, however I have beaten this combo many times. It just takes experience.
The enemies of the Emperor fear many things. They fear discovery, defeat, despair and death. Yet there is one thing they fear above all others. They fear the wrath of the Space Marines!
although we have our "cheesy" attributes, we get them at a cost.
Flexibility, and cost. These cheesy abilities are expensive, and on top of that we have almost no weapons options.
I'd like to have a plasma toting warrior for a few extra points, wouldn't you? Or hey, could I upgrade my armor to 2+ save?
Every army has their advantages and disadvantages. your best bet is to focus on your advantages, and take advantage of your enemies disadvantages...

I agree that Necrons are ideal for beginners. With little customization, modelling, list building and some easy paint jobs involved, they are a good way to get into the game.
But calling them cheesy is stupid.
First the C'Tan. Ok, these things are absolutely vicious. They can kill anything in close combat and aren't very easy to gun down either. But the Necron player pays BIG points to use them. Even a fully jacked-up Daemon Prince or Grand-Master (which is almost as good when it comes to killing everything else) will only reach up to the 250 area. These are 300/360, set.
As for the Monolith it has enough drawbacks to actually the enemy can see through it, so it provides no protection at all to your army, apart from a second chance at WBBs. The Particle Whip has short range for an Ordnance (24"), and an AP of only 3, so its unlikely to harm the biggest enemies). And it cannot fire P. Whip and still use teleportation/Flux Arcs. All in all I find the Monolith, with it's 'Living Metal' abilities, to do very little in way of attacking the enemy. Its more concernered with keeping itself alive. Unlike it's counterpart Land Raider which continuously shoots long range shots.
My advice is to just ignore it and got for phase out.
I started a Necron army about a few weeks ago, after years of playing chaos. I think it's true that getting started with Necrons is much easier than other races, simply because there are relatively few combinations available. But that doesn't make them easier or simpler to play- I'd prefer a land raider over a monolith any day...
I've only played them twice, but I have to say that Dreachon's right: the people who complain about cheese are usually those who can't bear to see their well-laid plans ruined by a VoD.
Those who say Necrons are cheesy are idiots, it's just another army like the rest. Each army can be chessy, just depends how you make it...
