Welcome to Librarium Online!
As the title suggests, this is a tournament list. It's only open for moderate change, since I'm going to have to work with models I already have, or already planned to purchase for my larger force-in-progress.
And, as I'll probably need to mention in every Eldar list I post -- those Dire Avengers aren't going anywhere. I like Dire Avengers.
Farseer: Shuriken Pistol, Witchblade, Fortune, Ghosthelm
7 x Striking Scorpion: Haywire and Plasma. Exarch w/Scorpion's Claw and Stealth
8 x Dire Avenger: Exarch w/Power Weapon and Distract [x3]
3 x Ranger
10 x Guardian: Star Cannon, +Warlock w/Enhance, CC Weapon and Shuriken Pistol
Wraithlord: 2 x Flamer, Bright Lance
Falcon: Spirit Stone, Holofield, Starcannon, Shuriken Cannon
HQ: 81 (6.8%)
Elite: 180 (15.1%)
Troops: 604 (50.5%)
Heavy Support: 330 (27.6%)
Bring on the derision.
(Constructive comments also welcome )
Well, I don't play eldar so I don't really have too much advise.
1st, Isn't 1200 pts. a little wierd for a tournament? Shouldn't it be 1250?
2nd, Do you think you're list is a little slow? The reason I say this is by have two wraithlord, they're going to take up alot of pts. And they'll only be going 6" a turn so it'll be pretty easy for the opponent to avoid them. So I don't think they'll make it into close combat, where they can easily make up their pts.
However, if you're enemy isn't very mobile, the wraithlord could make a huge impact because the enemy will realize they can't efficiently run from the wraithlord so he'll be forced to waste alot of his fire power on trying to take down your wraithlords.
3rd, Uh...Uh....I don't really have a third, but as advise I'd consider investing into transports, though I'm sure these can hold up alot of points with lower point games.
4th, 3 Rangers?
Yeah, I'm kind of slow. Read two but now I see there is only one wraithlord.
First, for clarification, that's two flamers on the one Wraithlord -- not two Wraithlords. And I can't speak for the tournament organisers reasoning, but 1,200 it is.
I wouldn't mind fitting a couple transports in, but I'm not sure how I'd do that at this points level. More importantly, I doubt I'll have any Wave Serpents by late Jan, which is when the tournament is on, so it's a moot point anyway.
As to 3 Rangers: I certainly don't want to spend points on more with only 1,200 to go around, and 3 man squad can certainly have it's uses (pinning, potential anti-heavy infantry, range, infiltrate).
your dire avengers will be shot at and mostly killed....just so you know.

get 9 war walkers(3 with bright lances 6 with starcannons and farseer and then hundreds of guardians wit star cannons
disonour before death
you can do that in your own list. Meanwile, I'll help SableWyvern with his list.Originally posted by magma_boy@Dec 8 2004, 02:31

your whole list is being bogged down by those avvengers. Drop one squad.*begs on knees* pleese?
I realy can't tell what to do with this list, it looks bad on paper, but on the field I think it will do fairly well. you should try a few games with this list, see what it lacks.
HA! VICTORY! I figured out whats bugging me about the list. It is made entirely to kill light infantry. You lack anti-tank. I would drop the rangers for 6 storm gardians, with haywire ganades and 2 fusion guns. put these in your falcon and allways move 12in, that way you can shoot all your weapons, and still unload.
when you unload, do it within 2 in of the target vehicle, that way you can haywire the turn you get out of your vehicle.

Cypher: Thanks. Pulse Laser on the Falcon, Bright Lance on the Wraithlord, haywire grenades and power fist with my Scorpions and Witchblade on my Farseer. I would have thought that that makes for reasonable, but not amazing, anti-tank capabilities at 1,200 points. Do you disagree, or did you miss some of that in the list?
The Storm Guardians in the Falcon sound like a really good idea, unfortunately there's no way I'll be buying Storm Guardian minis at this stage. Although, my Falcon currently remains empty in every stage of my planned progress towards a 3,000 point force. I'm suddenly tempted to see if I can make room for this cheap little strike team in my regular force. I'd almost even consider a 5 man team plus Warlock with Enhance. Hmm ... something to think about for the future, at least.
I will get a chance to playtest a bit, but most probably only against an inexperienced Tau player, for what limited value that holds.
The more I think about it, the more I like this Storm Guardian idea. I've decided I definitely don't need the squad in my full list, which has plenty of AT capability. However, it's a nice, potent little squad.
5 SG + 2 Fusion Gun + Warlock w/Enhance and Singing Spear makes for a potent little tank-hunting team. And, with the spare points (after dropping a DA squad), I can probably fill out the remaining DAs to 9 or 10 men.
Plus I'll get a flamer I don't need, to use on my Wraithlord ... then I just need to find a second fusion gun.
Edit: appostrophe added to stop things saying the opposite of what I mean.
Hi mate, OK may be wise to put up a revised list as it is starting to get confusing.
First observation, unless you have more appropriate info it is reasonable to assume that the majority of your opponents in a tourney will be Marines/CSMs/necrons all with similar T and saves.
So based on this:
Farseer - fine
Scorpions, I would be very tempted to switch to banshees, they are far better at assulting those nasty marine types, however they will have problems getting up the field without a transport (unless you use the falcon) without getting shot to bits
DAs - biting lip
Scouts - take 3 it is good, just in case of greater demons, C'Tan etc
Guardian squads: your defender squad: give the warlock conceal rather than enhance. I do like the storm squad too
Wraithlords: cheesey but effective
Falcon I like as he first was, given who your opponents are likel to be, this makes him nasty vs troops as well as taking out vehicles
Overall watch your HS points, you are exceeding 25% (as you are aware) and this may cost you composition points in tourneys
Good luck, let us know how it went
Everything you have been told is a lie!
i like the army list. it is realli sound. with the wraithlord comments. wraithlords yes r slow but stick a fldar missle launcher and you are in business. i would keep what you got. maybe with the rangers put on a warlock with conceal. so they rangers would get a 3+ cover save when not even in terrian. i would take out the dire avengers and put in 5 or 6 wraithguards and perhaps free some points up and get a falcon to transport the wraithguards. so good army list. and good luck in tourney.
