Beginning to feel like im repeating myself here.....
All possible configurations is best.... Because of all the possible uses for your Crisis Suits.
Read the Guide pinned at the top of the forum or click on the link at the bottom of my Signature to goto the Magnetic Mounting Guide.
This will tell you what to do in order to be able to swap weapons before every game to be able to best access your armoury, and increase your armies effectiveness.
While it is true that virtually any crisis suit configuration can be good, I think I would agree that the twin linked plasma rifle is going to be the most useful overall. This is mainly because no matter what army you end up facing, the odds of there being nothing on the other side with a 2+ save are very small. In fact, I would hazard that, since your Rail Guns should really be devoted to tank-busting, those plasma rifles are going to be about your only good bet for taking out tough infantry. Finally, at rapid fire range, they only get one less shot than a burst cannon, so they're not actually much worse for dealing with swarms.
Sure, it's more expensive, but I've hardly played a game yet where I haven't gotten good use out of every plasma rifle I've brought to the table.
Every configuration of the crisis suit and weapon on it may have its use (I kinda doubt the flamer) but overall all the Plasma rifle really does shine. It generally comes down to what you use the rest of your army in how the crisis suit can be employed. With hammerheads and broadsides taking out the armor, and firewarriors and stealth teams dealing with massed infantry, the Crisis suit really does excel at chewing into tough infantry. For that, there is no better weapon than the plasma rifle in my opinion. All my suits are fireknifes, with a few sporting twin-linked plasma rifles.
I agree with everyone but, if I had to choose one then it would have to be the plasma rifle. But only if I didn't know what I was fighting. It's an all around good gun. That's probabally why it costs the most.
The only thing that is stopping you from being what you can be is what you think other people think about you.
If you could say one thing to the world, what would it be?
Exactly. That's the consequence for being non-specialized and equally effective across the board (light infantry, heavy infantry, light vehicles...)Originally posted by TAU Master@Dec 15 2004, 10:52

I voted Plasma Rifle too but didn't anyone think missle pod? I mean, in my head, it's a close second........., more range, more shots, more str, it just sin't AP2 is all.
I agree with you there, Prometheus; the missile pod is a close second. It's good against light vehicles and against medium-heavy infantry, plus it puts out a pair of high strength shots at good range (for the Tau). I like it a lot, but I think the Plasma Rifle does manage to win just because of its AP 2. I would say that the burst cannon is excellent (it is) but I like stealth suits a whole bunch, and basically if I want burst cannons, I'll take stealth suits rather than putting them on my crisis suits.
