I collect Ulthwe Eldar at the moment and need help to beat Tau. I understand the best way to beat Tau is by assaulting but the only decent CC unit I have is my Seer Council and Avatar. I am going to vs my friend really soon and I need help by tommorow afternoon at the latest. It is going to be 1500 pt battle with Escalation I'll give u a list of his army off the top of my head.
Shas'o, missle pod, plasma rifle, shield generator, hard wired multi tracker
O'shova /w crisis body guard TL plasma rifle
5 stealth suits one is a leader dude with a drone controller thing (i don't know what drones he uses with them)
1 or 2 squads of ten FW each with a leader dude
6 Pathfinders 3 with rail rifles
Devilfish (I don't know what upgrades)
Hammerhead with Rail Gun (big problem with this because it chops my infantry)
1 Broadside with shield drone and hardwired shield generator (very annoying to destroy because of the drone)
I will appreciate any help u can give me
It would help if you could post which units you have availiable.

Let your WL target turn 1 the hammerhead afterwards let them counter the kroot attack so they wont chop into youurinfantry take some waveserpents and use as much cover as possible carying striking scorpions is te best way to deal with them I think also use bright lance on the suits its a instant kill for them.
However with that statement out of the way, I would say listen to ArchonBjorn. He has a really good tendency to not say stupid things and give bad advice.Learn from yesterday.
Live for today
Hope for tomorrow
You should give you falcon holo-field, spirit stones, and star engines to blast your farseer council inside stright to the tau line first turn. Then next turn they can come out and assault. I use this tactic with a 5 squad of banshees and a Harlequin Solitare.
I know not what weapons World War 3 will be fought with. All I know is that World War 4 will be fought with sticks and stones.
Although Fire Warriors have long range basic guns, they have a complete lack of heavy weaponry. Give Guardians weapons platforms and out-range them. Get Dark Reapers (for the Suits) and an Exarch with EML and Fast Shot (for Suits & FW) Kroot will be torn apart by Shuriken Fire, no need to worry. Get a Squad of Scorpions *with Plasma Grenades* too combat the Stealth team, or Warp Spiders. Use a Wraithlord with Bright Lance for tanks, and get a Falcon with a Starcannon and Shuriken Cannon. Have a Farseer with Guide.
You cannot win, for to fight us is to give us power.
Thanks so far guys
Just remeber it's escalation so I can only have infantry to start with everything else is in reserve. So I will have my Seer council, Ranger squad and a 14 man black guardian defender squad with a brightlance and a warlock with conceal ,witchblade. He will only have his broadside, FW and kroot out so I hope to kill the broadside with Brightlance first turn.
I beat him i got a solid victory. My army was
Seercouncil (2 farseers 3 warlocks)
5 witchblades, 2ghost helms, eldritch storm, fortune, 2 augment, enhance, 5 pistols
14 man black guardian squad w/ warlock(witchblade, shk pistol, conceal) and brightlance antigrav platform
6 direavengers (one is an exarch w/ diresword and pistol)
3 squads of three jetbikes each squad w/ one shuriken cannon
Falcon w/ starcannon and holofield
Fireprism w/ crystal teargeting matrix
Wraithlord w/ brightlance
And I won isn't it cool
The only problem with the brightlancing the broadsides or the suits are those stupid drones.
Well those are my pointless ramblings on the subject anyway....
heh, thats funny. that guys army is just like mine...
although im a tau collector, i like eldar a lot : they're probs my 2nd fav army...
so congrats on your victory. ^_^
EDIT: ive just noticed that, unless you weren't playing by O'shovah's rules, your friend was cheating. one of o'shovahs rules is 'breakaway faction'. he cant have any kroot, and his army can only have one unit of stuff like broadsides and stealths...hmmm.....

about the breakaway faction i let him have his kroot so we could have a 1,500 point battle rather than 1,400 and something battle.
