Hi are there any special rules for just Saim Hann? Can i field quite a few guardians and a Wrathlord still... I want to know because i have 24 unassembled guardians, a Falcon, and a Wraithlord. is this an okay start? i am going to get some Vypers and Jetbikes soon. Probably for my birthday in Feb. :shifty:
I also have a question about Falcons... in the codex it says that a falcon may have ONE of the folowing..Shuriken Cannon, scatter laser, EML, Bright Lance, or Starcannon. Yet the codex picture shows a scatter laser and a bright lance BOTH equiped on the turret... can someone explain this? :hmm:
I have been told (and have read) that jetbikes and Vypers suck.... Is this true... if it is than i am doomed...
My opponents will be Necrons and Tyranids are the 'Bikes gunna suck against these guys?

First of all, YES there are special rules. There is a book called "Codex: Craftworld Eldar" and THAT has the rules for Saim-Hann, Iyanden, Biel-Tan, Alaitoc, etc.

As for the Falcons, check if it is already equipped with one such weapon. I don't know right now as I don't have the codex...

Our Eldar opponent often seems to have 3 separate weapons on his Falcon, so I think you probably can do what you were thinking. He'll often use Pulse Laser + Starcannon + Shuriken Cannon. Nasty combo, since the 2 latter ones are both Defensive weapons, so he moves 12" and fires everything.

If you play a Saim Hann list, they have a different force organisation chart, which includes minimal heavy support. You'd have to choose between your Falcon and your Wraithlord.

i dont know what your getting at, vypers are just as good as any other heavy support and saim hann have the abiity to field a max. of 18 of them...

O yeah sure holo fields and scythe stuff is as expensive as 2 vypers XD.
I would go for 2 vypers instead of 1. I prefer 6 shots then 3 even if that means he will get shot down easier remember when you move 6 that ALL penetrating hits counts as glancing.

However with that statement out of the way, I would say listen to ArchonBjorn. He has a really good tendency to not say stupid things and give bad advice.

I have played Saim hann quite a bit and will give you some pointers. first of all get the craftworld book so you know your rules.

Saim hann is THE fastest most mobile army IMO. you can fly circles around any army your likly to play against. they also seem to be one of the least played armies out there.

right now with the units you have you cant even begin with a saim hann army. Due to certain rules for Saim hann you can only take one heavy support choice. as the wraithlord isnt fluffy go with the falcon.

the guardian squads arent extreamly fluffy but you may want them for certain objectives depending on missions. put them in a wave serpent to make them fluffy and keep up with the rest fo the army. wave serpents also make good cover after they crash.

of the units you need to work with there are 3. guardian jet bikes, vypers, shining spears. Guardian jetbikes can get a few shuriken cannon up grades and the warlock can get a singing spear to take out tanks but at 35 points a pop you dont really want them in an extended firefight. these guys also die about as fast as normal guardians in CC so CC isnt where you want to put them. Shining spears have very little use if any even in a saim hann army. the only useful way Ive seen of using them is to use squads of 3 with one upgraded to a exarch with a bright lance. use them to take pot shots at tanks. for 200 points though for this squad you might want something else instead. vypers are by far the best choice of the 3. vypers with star cannons will put the hurt on all +3 armor save armies. while fragile vypers speed and range and ability to move shoot move (with crystal targetting matrix upgrade) make them very solid troop killers. 2 vypers in a squad with bright lances do fairly well against most vehicles as well.

Many new players to Saim hann go for the all vyper army. this army gets expensive money wise and si considered cheesy due to the speed, manueverability and offensive capabilities of the army. Ive known players who've have stopped playing their Saim hann army because it never lost and of course many people who refused to play such armies. every long time veterin Saim hann player throws in the inferior jetbike options to balance this out. The general rule is no more vypers then jetbikes. the army becomes much more difficult to play but youll probably enjoy it more this way inthe long term.

Yeah I really recommend not making an all vyper army..

I coined the phrase "Ebay armies" and that is one of them.. There is absolutely 0 point to starting all warhammer if all you're going to do is make a theme army, paint it, play it twice and then quit.. You might as well use proxies if thats all you're going to do..

To that extent you should buy a varied amount of models so you can make different armies more often. I recommend buying cheap armies off Ebay, don't buy them retail. I get most of my stuff at 50% of cost because I use ebay and thus have double the amount of models. Now, you'll need to buy specific models at retail because ebay is only useful if you buy bulk

I have an all-Vyper Combat Patrol (400 points), but that's as many vypers as I'll be getting. As I extend it up to 1000 points I'll be going for jetbikes and falcon/WS-mounted guardians to add some variation, and to avoid infuriating my opponents even more.

I can recommend Saim-Hann (Y) - extremely fast, an unusual army, but difficult to use unless you're a veteran. About the falcon - that's actually a pulse laser on the RHS of the turret. And facing Tyranids, you should do quite well as long as you avoid Homogaunts and Gargoyles.
