Hey there LO...Some of you know me, some of you dont.
I'm a veteran with Tau, and Librarium Online, and I've been
    around. Just not as much.

I've got the new spiffy rulebook, and I'm well aquainted with
tau...But to build a battle list with 160 points? Where to start?
I'm looking for well balanced kick but stuff.

    any advice drop a line.

well, here's the problem... tau do not have an armory, well they do, if you can really call it that. and if you want to take any units that compliment each other, rather than just a strait kroot or fire warrior team, you'll need to break a lot of mutable laws, and then your enemy is going to have a nice fat band of baddies. I myself just use kroot mercinaries for a tau kill team, even though they're not actually tau, because I find the tau's choices EXTREMLY limited for kill team.

Well, I don't know the exact rules of the Killingteam scenario since I've never really playd it before. But isn't anything with 1 wound playable in a killing team?

If that's the case then why not play a team of Stealthsuits or why not a Pathfinderteam with railrifles? Shouldn't the stealth team be perfect for a killingteam scenario?

The opinion I've seen is an all Stealth Suit Kill Team. However, I don't like Stealth Suits that much, and I don't really like just having all of the same.

Probably, I'd use Gun Drones and Pathfinders, as these are some of the neatest little units and could be useful. Oh, pin that Brute Squad over there, oh look a bunch of Carbine shots...woops, sorry, we killedja. They'd be fun to play, and you could even model one or two with "Sniper Rifles" (i.e. Rail Rifles). It'd be a great project, I think...hmm...maybe I shall do that..

I'll deffinitly look into pathfinders, maybe a few with railguns. Carbine blasters
should do the trick. I'd like to put in a Battlesuit leader.....would it work?

If it's a Stealth Suit, you can. No Crisis Suits, though, as they have more than 1 Wound.

I'll post a sample Kill Team list in this topic soon, once I go over the rules a bit more. ^_^

two pathfinders squads would rock. you use one to markerlight a brute squad, and the other with railrifles will nail 'em. you'd murder all SM and necron kill-teams with that, and the carbines will murder all the IG, eldar, and ork brutes as well.
putting in a battlesuit leader gives the enemy a lot more brute squads, and also adds to the klaxon counters everytime you use the jetpack. not so good for killteam. try to avoid them.

Yeah, this is excellent! TY Angel of Rust!

    I'd probably try a team like that - it'd be fun. Let's see...for exactly 160 points:

6x Pathfinders with Pulse Carbine and Markerlight
    4x Pathfinders with Rail Rifles

Instead of that, I would probably do:

Shas'ui with Pulse Carbine and Markerlight
6x Pathfinders with Pulse Carbine and Markerlight
    3x Pathfinders with Rail Rifles
    160 points total.

The second one, I would take, simply because three reasons:

    1) Only need 3x Rail Rifles to crush any Brute Squad.

    2) It is a SINGLE entry in the army list (meaning no extra stuff, but the multiple Heavies do break rules I believe).

    3) Shas'ui leading them would fit fluff very, very nicely. ^_^

i don't think you break rules with heavy weapons, just with high strength 8+, maybe. not sure though.
shas'ui i think has to be used to lead the team.

the second option would not benefit from it's markerlights, but apart from that, should work.
