my friend plays orks, and he has 2x the models i do, here is his army list, im not sure of points:
    HQ:
    1 Warboss

    1 Warboss in Mega Armour

    Elites:
    8 Stormboyz,Nob
    Troops:
    20 stikk bommas, Nob(in Wartrukk)
    20 stikk bommas, Nob
    20 slugga boyz, Nob

    Fast Attack:
    2 Warbikes, big shootas
    Heavy Support:
    2 Zzap guns
    1 Kannon

and also, if the wartrukk gets blown up, with the Stikk Bommas still inside, do they automattically jump out? Thanks in advance!

Give a read through the Ork Codex. Stick Bombas cant take transports. And if Trukkboyz trukk blows up they are hurt only on a 6.

My advice, do that "jump and shoot" technique with the battle suits.

Zzap guns are very powerful anti tank weapons, but quite easy to kill. Take them out befor they get within 24 inches.

Pie plates and shooty armies are the bain of Orks. But also take a unit of Drones or some Kroot to charge the orks. When you deny them a charge, thats anothe r10+ attacks they cant take. Make sure you soften them up with shooting first.

okay, i thought something was wrong with that, i usually take drones, to absorb hurricane bolter shots, instead of my FWs, or to hold up an assault.thanks!

playing both, i got an idea or two.

    obvious tactics:
lots of FW, railhead, flamers on battlesuits (you ain't gonna avoid the charge unless you are a tactics master)

    Less obvious tactics:
Drones, kroot and pathfinders. drones pin the huge mobs down and weake them while you assault with your own large mobs of kroot. Kroot are cheaper and hit harder than orks first, at a lower price. pathfinders are used to knock out big gunz and the ever-present warboss with any accompanying retinue.

oh yeah. shoot the stormboyz, they are as easy to kill as normal orks.

Yeah, this is excellent! TY Angel of Rust!

Orks shouldnt be too hard to deal with for Tau and applebone has a lot of excellent points that I would like to agree with him on. That said, unless you absolutely feel the need to run your crisis suits, I would use less of them, utilizing for more stealth suits. To be sure, run some crisis, but leave those in the fireknife config to take on any heavy stuff and bosses. Anti-infantry work is best left to stealth teams and firewarriors, who can both eat through an ork mob.

he has a list somewhere for crisis suits?
I agree with Maus to some extent, but you should keep some crisis suits for demo work on any vehicles he may take. those things are some of the nastiest pieces of work i've seen in a while, and need killing before everything else.
if at all possible, play an aggressive style. move close, lead them in a merry go round. if you got points to spare, see if you can fly your suits behind their lines. If you are the one calling the shots when you move in the game, then you should be fine against the orks. i know i'm winning a game when i do more assaults than my opponent (it happens more often than you might think).

Burst cannons......simple easy, you've got your crisis mounted for infantry, so take out the pulse cannons or plasma cannons.... You've also got supurb fire power, you wanna pump out as many shots as you can.
