or warriors, or anything, in this case...
The question is, how do I avoid appearing after a VoD, shooting the enemy silly, but ending up all in a circle around the Lord, ready to be blasted by the next Warp Blast, Plasma Cannon, <insert 36+" blast/ordinance weapon here>??
I've been meaning to use the Lord with Immortal VoD to kill stuff method, but there are always too many Plasma Cannons, Concentrated Warp Blasts, and other things that can reach me and cover the entire squad under the blast template. Add the scattering possibility, it makes it almost impossible to land somewhere that no one can hit you and still accomplish your goal.
When you land you have to make sure that what you land next to can be taken out by the squad. I find VoD is at its most useful after a few turns when you can jump in behind your opponent.
I tend to use it with a squad of 20 warriors. What they land next to usually dies!!
thanks for the tip. The problem is not whether I can kill whatever I land next to, but the plasma cannons 36" away or blast weapons 24" away... there'll always be more than one of those...
Then take those out prior to VoD'ing, tie them up with scarabs, or kill them with the VoD unit. There really is no other way around it. If you get lucky, perhaps you'll find cover in between them, but other than that, unless you deal with the threat it will hurt you.
You could, ues a solar pulse on your lord that turn, but then of course you wouldnt have a Res. Orb on him, which would be much more useful instance.
You could also try Veiling into cover, provided the squad you want to take out and cover are close enough together.

I would suggest you VoD up to the offending plasma cannon and proceed to flay it to it's constituent atoms.
When using the Lord + VoD, I'd suggest to always take 10 Immortals. Adding a Resurrection Orb to the Lord makes it that much better too. This way, chances he can kill the entire squad + Lord is minimal. The WBB will get a few back up too, and you can veil out of there, to target the next unit.
Only downside to this is that this specific unit will cost ya 480 points.. ouch.
Like you've already pointed out, this unit will take one turn of firepower or a decent charge from Khorne Berserkers and still have enough to get back up or VoD back out. It's worth it.Originally posted by Bablar@Jan 19 2005, 09:27

Better yet, S5 means only S10 weapons can really negate anything! And no armor save Close combat, but you want to try to avoid that...key word, try!

Ive got a great peice of advice:
You all need to get out more. Do some sport or somthing instead of sitting at home on your computers wanking over each others little plastic men. You don't live in the real world do you. For your own good do somthing with yourselves. Do you not agree that you are all very pathetic low life individuals?
Only time will tell but remeber its not too late to change. But it is if you're 45 and you still live with your mother.
