I was planning on starting a DE army but I heard there were going to be some changes. The first thing I heard was that the DE were getting "Nerfed", I was wondering if this was true or not.

Also, I was wondering if anyone was sure on how much they were going to change and how with the new DE/Eldar codex, if there truly is one in the making.

Thanks for any suggestions and help on these issues.

It's all rumors, until GW actually announces something, I doubt people will know what's going on.

I doubt there's going to be any nerfing though, as Dark Eldar are underpowered as it is. The only bad thing I could see happening, especially if they amalgamate all eldar codices in one, is to disallow us to deploy vehicles through the WWP.

Games Workshop has disproved this rumor a thousand times. There will be no Eldar/Dark Eldar codex. The two are simply too different to be put in one codex. As for being nerfed, well the only way I can see the Dark Kin being nerfed is the way idinos mentioned.

A Dark Eldar army takes tons of finesse to use correctly, but we are faster than anything else out there and nigh on unbeatable if used correctly. If you want to take up the Dark Eldar, now is a better time than ever with GW so zealously over-promoting their pet Space Marines.

The only thing I've seen is that the CODEX will be reissued in about 2 years. The minis will probably see a makeover to make them more appealing in order to get more interest in DE as an army. Don't remember the website but I did see some proposed drawings for new warriors that could come out with the new CODEX. They had a similarity to one of the races in the "Star Trek" DS-9 series that was on a few years back.

Lots of interesting stuff, although my favorite are two of the questions I submitted; Grin

Could you give us a general idea as to what direction the dev team is planning on taking the Dark Eldar? I'm mainly interested in army background and general playing style (if you guys have even considered that yet).

The main thrust will be giving them a full size Codex that allows us to explore more of their history and nature. We worked out quite a bit of detail last time around, but the size and style of the early 3rd edition Codexes precluded us from being able to publish much of it. Really, it's more detail on the Fall, the founding of Commoragh, the evolution of the sects (such as the Haemonculi and Wyches), as well as the disturbing nature of the Mandrakes and Scourges (which are supposed to be a lot darker than they are currently presented).

As for the playing style, I would expect them to retain the dynamic they have - fast, fragile and deadly. Without having reviewed the current list in detail yet, we can't point to any specific areas that need revision, although I suspect the most obvious ones have already been widely discussed on the 'net.

Dark Eldar are the Shiznit. Agree or Disagree?

Agree. When we get back to the Codex in the next few years, I'm looking forward to having the extra space to play around with (not that I'll necessarily write it myself, but you get my meaning). Introducing a whole new race in the 48pp format was very difficult.
That is from an interview with Gav... follow the link to Dysartes.

    //Cheers :lol:

I don't think that they will get rid of the dark eldar as they are very improtant fluff wise the worst they could possibly do is combine them in a codex with all eldar but i don't see that happening. I mean the sisters of battle where going to be dropped by games workshop as they were not that viable but the designers wanted to keep them as they are so important to the fluff that's why the development team came up with the idea for the Inquisition codexs so they could save the sisters.

These photos sound interesting. Would you mind PMing me a link? I am a huge DS9 fan, and a Trekkie in general.

Anywho, I can't wait to see what's happening two years down the road with the Dark Eldar. I'll probably rebuild my army when it comes out, but I don't mind. Finally, we get some more personality.

Cant' find the site. I did remember that it was a "Cardassian" (sp) look that they were/are thinking of going with. With all the minis I have I'd be hard pressed to want to buy and paint a force that large again. If I can find it, I'll PM it to you.

"Nerfed" is a term used to say something has been made harmless. It's derived from the famous Nerf ball, a ball made from foam that couldn't harm anything. Obviously, the Dark Eldar will not be Nerfed.
