Okies after chatting in my GW store and asking about what the summer campaign is going to be in my local store(no one is really sure) there was the suggestion of battle patrols vs a tyranid invasion, now i dont know about you guys but 40k in 40 mins is very harsh on tyranids, No TMCs and the fact people who play in the campaign will know the nid players wont have Tmc's really scares me, considering SM can still take dreads, tau can still take some battle suits etc basically im wondering what the best way to go is...
Any example Army lists by any of the veterans from these boards will help
or any one experienced in playing battle patrol missions with nids giving advice would help aswell.
ill be honest i've never played a 400 pt game with nids as the no TMCs, no zoanies, no lictors (basically 3 reasons why i like nids) has reaally put me off and made me play 1000pt minimum games.
Army of the heavens, my army waits in hell
To battle on the earth, for all the souls who fell
But think how much you can outnumber them with gaunts - after all, your not allowed much armour in 40kin40min - certainly a SM dread's armour is too high, tho a Landspeeder's Ok.
Just zerg rush them with the little nibblers. You can get 50 Spine guants with hive nodes, and 3 leaping warriors with RC ST.
I don't play Tyranids in 40k in a flash/combat patrol games. Just leave them in the box.
This is true, I faced off against 16 Khorne Berzerkers (2 8 man squads) with 20 Marine killing (+ to Init, + to Str) Hormagaunts and 3 leaping ST/RC Warriors. I lost the warriors, he was wiped out to a man.
Gyauayuayuayua! Ja! Ve vill crush da little girly men in deir little girl men awrmor! Ve vill see owur enemies driven befowur us, und hear da lahmentaytions of deir wemen. Und from owur home planet, de stayte uf Califowurnia, ve vill lawunch owur mighty offensive. Even if you kill us, ve'll be bach!! Gyauayauyauyauyau!
-Arnoldunit Schwarzenecronegger; when questioned about the impending doom he would rain down upon the heads of his doomed enemies.
Nids aren't weak in combat patrol. My typical CP list has a brood of genestealers and a brood of leaping gaunts supported by a biovore. This list has beaten necrons with minimal losses. Infantry heavy IG lists have proven to be quite challenging though, but that's just because the list wasn't designed against those and tends to be outnumbered.
"I'm always right. Except for the times I'm not."
4 warriors with talons, claws and carapace. 132 points. Possibly leaping?
The rest of the 400 is hormagaunts. One hive node. lovely.
This looks pretty poor, but small numbers of units in 40min armies means that, especially with leaping warriors, you are on top of the enemy really fast tearing them up good. And then quickly on to the next unit. Like magic.
Do what everyone says with the warriors then a bunch of gaunts, get in fast, and hold them up. You will be immune to psycology, you will win, they will run or all die, and you will chase them down with your better initiative (or they all died)
Back from a long adventure.
