my friend plays tau, and i play orks (not KoS), and i usually get blown to shreds :glare: . I only have 2 trukks, and unless i get the first turn, i can never use them as they are blown up so fast. If anyone knows any good stratagies for beating him, that would be appreciated. We usually play 1000 point games and i can buy new models so i am open to suggestions. I have
10 ard boys
10 stikk bombas
3 zzap guns
2 killa kanz
His army consists of lots of fire warriors, lots of gun drones, a squad of kroot, some crisis suits and a :glare: hammerhead :glare:with a dreaded railgun. Any help would be greatly appreaciated
Well, I don't know much about the Orks, but I know my Tau inside-out, so I'll try and give you some advice from a Tau POV.
1) Get way the hell more Trukks. When your Boyz have to slog foward, Fire Warriors will cut them down like nobody's business, as you've probably seen. The fact that Orks can't hit the broad side of a barn if they were locked inside it, and that Ork Boyz guns suck, combined with the Fire Warrior's good save basically makes for a shooting gallery. However, once your Boyz are monuted, they'll at least get much closer and have less time under the guns of the Fire Warriors. Plus, it could get them all the way into CC, and, well, the rest is history.
2) I'd recommend getting more Kanz and Dreads. If you have alot, the Railguns will be far too stretched to take them all out, and they'll eat any Tau unit for breakfast in CC.
3) Try and get some sort of unit to tie up the Hammerhead. Some Tankbustaz in a Trukk would probably be a good idea, because they can move like heck across the board and be bombing the Hammerhead ASAP.
4) Try getting some looted Marine and Guard vehicles. If it's possible, an IG Destroyer might be a good idea (I only have the original Ork Codex, and, while the Destroyer isn't explictly listed, every other IG vehicle out at the time is, so I can only guess). Barring that, a Basilisk never failed anyone. Plus, it doesn't rely on the Ork's BS.
Anyways, that's all I can think of off the top of my head. But, looking at your friend's list, it looks like he built it with the idea of fighting Orks in mind.

Thanks for the help, i will look into getting more trukks, another killa kan, and a looted vehicle of some sort, and yes he did make it in mind of me having an ork army :glare:
Nothing a Battle Cannon Couldnt fix
A squad of 3 Killer kans with a mekboy just behind with kustom force field, meks toolz and a load of grot helper chappies will survive alot of Railgun hits (theoreticaly 18 to kill them all) and Tau dont get that many Railguns. Cover is great, take it with you with aload of kustom force fields, dont worry though, in my experiance Orks are about as useful as a chocolate teacup. Most people i see play them for fun, not really competativly.

Thats a lot of railgun shots to kill 3 kanz , a very good distraction , and he only has one railgun. i will be sure to include that in my newer army list. Thanks a bunch
