Hi everyone. Im starting a new Necron army and need to know what to get. I know to get the codex, and to get the Necron Lord and 2 units of Necron warriors. after this, what should i get?
Hmm that depends. Beef up the squads to be atleast 15 cron strong. ( little pun there)
Anyways get a couple of destroyers, they are a pretty good all around choice. 3 should be good for a start.
I recommend starting with the Necron battleforce. Then get your lord to meet the compulsory requirements. Maybe another box of troops. After that I say more Destroyers or Heavy D's. Can't go wrong with a squad Immortals eitherOriginally posted by DeathRuler@Feb 21 2005, 16:57

Thanks for the advice!
Definately get a battleforce as you get a good mix of units, then i'd get an immortal squad as these guys make a good retinue for your lord to accompany, can support your battle line, and are excellent as they can move and shoot.
Don't overlook all those Scarabs you get with the Warrior sprues. They are a terror against vehicle heavy armies.
If you're going for a foot trooper heavy army, go with a regular Lord or 2.
If you want a lot of Destroyers/Heavy Destroyers/Wraiths, get yourself a DLord. He can match movement with these faster units and provide Res Orb support so your don't hamstring your flanking abilities.
If you are going with just a mass of Warriors/ Immortals for the high Phase Out number, a Tomb Spyder can be invaluable for its WBB rule modifier.

The Necron Army Box has a good core of Warriors, Scarab Swarms, and Destroyers. Get two more boxes of Warriors, and you'll have a total of forty-four Warriors, which is a very solid core and an absolute must for Necrons. Also, Tomb Spyders act as de facto sergeants for the Warriors, providing a much-needed power weapon (monstrous creature).
After that, you'll need to decide what kind of Necron Army you want.
A shooting Lord or a close-combat Lord?
If you want to go ranged, Destroyers and Heavy Destroyers are a good choice to back up even more Warriors. (all Warrior lists are not uncommon, and they are more effective than they sound.) This list can be well-served by the Nightbringer. There are tons of Necrons to prevent Phase-out and your opponent will have a tough choice to make in deciding whether to attack the Nightbringer or your core of Necrons.
If you want to emphasize the Necrons shocking speed, you'll want a Monolith (deep strike), Wraiths and Destroyers (jetbikes), Flayed Ones (infiltrate) and Immortals (teleport) to be escorted by your Veil-ing Lord.
If you want a terrifying melee force, the Deceiver, Pariahs, Flayed Ones, and Wraiths will give you a potent, but admittedly hard-to-use list.
One of the nice things about collecting a Necron force is that, due to the small number of units, you don't have to buy as many pieces before you're able to construct many different kinds of lists. (For example, you've bought a Monolith. This is the only vehicle you will ever have to buy. Compare this to the Space Marine Player with his Razorback, Land Raider, multiple Rhinos, et c.)

just start out by getting a lot of warriors. everyone says warriors are not that great, but in large numbers they are amazing. yes, they are expensive, even more so than pariahs, but they are very powerful in close range+ We'll Be Back means these guys are close to invincible.
Also, for an elite choice get immortals. My personal favorite unit in the entire are the immortals. they count towards phase out, have double the range of a gauss flayer, are even stronger than normal, and are INCREDIBLE when played with a VoDRO army.
I shall destroy all who stand in my way. The Emperor shall be reborn in me, the Primarchs shall be remade in me. I shall cast down the Dark Gods, the Star Gods shall be consumed just as they consumed their brothers. Those who fell shall be redeemed, those who remained pure shall be rewarded. The Imperium shall regain its power and the Dark Age of Technology will seem like nothing. For I am the Numen and I am coming
