Just curious about how many of you use conversions and what kind. Also are there any models you use in place of other models.

I know alot of people dislike our model range, especially the wyches, lord and mandrakes to name a few... personally i have no problem with them. (Well i have problems with Mandrakes rulewise so i have never really cared about the models) One of the employees at our local store uses one of vect's personal guards for an incubi master. Not really looking for tips or anything, just curious how you guys assembled your armies.

Personally i use the Female Lord model as one of my 3 syrabrites. I really liked the male lord model personally and he definitely seems look more powerful than my standard troops and definitely gives off the appearance of command to me. However the female lord look pretty wimpy to be a high end command model. Plus the way i organized my 2 raiders squads was having one with helmets on and the others with helmets off. So the helmetless female lord really fit the role.

My wych lord is Lelith, pretty sure 99% of the other DE players use her as well.

The only DE models i really disliked where the assualt weapon warriors. Because they look exactly like the Dark Lance guys, just with stubbier guns. I made a post on how exactly i converted those in the money saving conversions sticky in the conversions forum. Basically they look like normal warriors holding the blasters in the same fashion as the incubi holding assualt weapons are.

Did 2 wych conversions, firstly i bought the assualt weapons wych blister and just cut the tips of the shredder off and know it looks exactly like a blaster Second is my wych raider, which just has wychs pilotting it. Working on writing up an article for th conversions forum as we speak.

Other than that my army is stock GW mini's. Really just kind of curious how in depth my conversions were to other DE players. I have heard of using WHFB Wych Elves in place of our wyches. Most people equip their lords with punishers, wondering how they do that. Also no models exist for jetbike or skyboard lords. Or any other interesting conversions, figured there might be some cool talos or grot models out their as well.

For my skyboard lord I used the Dark Elf Sorceress on a Cold One mini.

Wyches; Witch Elves and the OOP Wood Elf Wardancers.

Gave a Hellion a Blaster by getting the Incubi Blaster bit.

Got lazy when it came to Warrior Blasters and just bought the bitz and shaved off the shoulder pad on a plastic one. Did give two to every squad though for the price of one blister.

Also have interchangeable weapons for my Raider and Ravagers by mounting the gunners on plasticard that was cut to fit the area they stand.
Looking for a compliment here is like looking for a girlfriend in a cemetary. You know you probably won't like what you dig up, but you'll take it anyway.

I converted one of my incubis on a carnosaur for fun. Also converted a RJB lord with hellion bits the RJB and extra bits from the normal warrior sprue = some ads. I have also converted a couple of warriors to other cool poses so they kill a marine or hold a chopped ofhead in the air things like that. Nothing THAT impressive but they still look good for a noob converter even if I say so myself.

However with that statement out of the way, I would say listen to ArchonBjorn. He has a really good tendency to not say stupid things and give bad advice.

I have been very busy with conversions on my DE Haemonculus cult.

for an archon, I used jain zar, cut, the punisher-looking thing out of her hand and replaced it with a splinter pistol. Then I got some flayed one hands from the necron line and mounted one in the hand she holds up above her head. it looks pretty slick, very dynamic model.

All of my haemonculus have flayed one's hands as well. I modified urien rakarth so that he holds a little loop thing i call a webway portal in his outstretched hand.

My grotesques are converted zombies, with eyes/mouthes sewn shut. Some of them have had thier hands removed and replaced with a bunch of blades.

My Taloi (taloses?) are new ogre kingdom bulls converted similarly to the grotesques, big gashes across thier chests and stuff too. they both have 2 splinter cannons mounted on armored shoulder plates.

all my warriors have thier spikes filed off. very few of them still have bayonets. This makes them look much sleeker and elegant.

Raiders and ravagers are converted similarly. I remove the cockpit from the rear of the vehicle and mount it up in the front where the darklance usually goes. The darklance is slung right under the cockpit. on ravagers the side weapons are also slung underneath, and instead of the platforms the troops stand on, the armored plates are glued directly onto the side of the chassis. Raiders have an additional platform mounted on top of the center beams so that they can actually hold 10 models. I have not yet decided if I want to use magnets.

If someone can suggest a good image hosting site I can show these off.

edit: oh yeah, I also converted a few plastic warriors to hold darklances.

I'm maybe looking at starting a DE army after I'm done my regular Eldar one, and the only way I'm fielding it is with a lot of conversions. I like some of the models, like the Incubi and Warriors, but loathe the look of much of the range.

I'll probably add warrior helmets to a lot of the helmetless Dark Eldar, such as the Hellions I intend to field. Also, I am planning a major conversion for my DE Archon using DE and WFB Dark Elves bits.

Maybe we'll get some new models for DE once the new codex comes out. BTW, is it true the DE are going to be included in the regular Eldar codex that is slated to come out around Christmas of this year? I have heard that that is the case, which in my opinion, would be great.

http://imageshack.us/ is my first choice since you don't need to register. Just go to the site, hit browse, pick the image and voila.

photobucket is good, as well as imagedump, but id can't be outside linked.

never had a problem with spam personally. Just i find it really easy to just pull up the bookmark, hit browse, select the image and voila.

Really a matter of taste. Imagedump i would stay away from, can't be outside linked and you have to click the yes i want to see the image button everytime you view a pic. Photobucket and Imageshack are probably equally as useful.

I really like the wyches, gamewise, but the models are so horrible they make my eyes hurt  However I really like the dark elf witches, but how do I get the splinter pistols and the special wych weapons? Any experiences? Its sad that GW can´t make better, especially when they are so damn expensive
