I'm still kind of new to DE but i've been going by the second edition codex but i thought i saw someone mention a 3rd edition DE rules. and i know that GW are reluctant to even mention the DE as one of their armies (Sorry, i have alot of anger issues with the favorite sons: the smelly imperium of man) but because they dont like to mention the DE i thought they might just skip putting the 3rd edition DE rules (if they exist) in a codex and just post it on a website somewhere.

Thanks to anyone that can clear this up for me

I discovered recently thx to karantalis that we dont have a 3th edition codex. The one with the white skull on front is the second edition and the other one without the skull should be the 1st edition codex. . . something the shop employees forgot to tell me when I started playing 40k.

However with that statement out of the way, I would say listen to ArchonBjorn. He has a really good tendency to not say stupid things and give bad advice.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, so does that mean that there arent any extra approved rules on a web site somewhere that would be different from the second edition dex?

    Nope.

If you have the codex with the white skull on it, that's it.

    If? Yes we do.

When? No one knows, but don't hold your breath.

The one with the white skull is the 2nd Edition of our 3rd Edition Rules Set.

The codex was written after the BBB (3rd Edition Big Black Book) i know because i started playing almost immediately after 3e came out. And i said if wyches got something i cool i would continue with DE as they were the starter army for 3e. We were the second army to get a codex in 3rd edition.

Quite right wilibus. Still means as previously stated that there are only 2 editions of the DE codex however. No 3rd edition codex although both the 1st and 2nd use 3rd ed game rules....

It was quite un-intelligent how GW named our codex. Instead of stamping second edition on the cover, they should have put revised or something along that line.

EDIT: Or nothing, like the dark elves army book, it has the revised rules, but no clam on the cover.
