Welcome to Librarium Online!
After some long moments of thinking, I decided that my MECH TAU army would have NO crisis battlesuit teams. I know what your thinking, that's crazy! But, I figured that with 2 hammerheads, 2 devilfish, and 2 Shas'o or Shas'els, I could beat any opponent. I say this becuase Shas'os have 4 attacks, 4 wounds, etc. And if you give him/her a plasma rifle and missile pod, they can take out anything. I see standard crisis teams as unreliable. (they are vulnerable to combined fire and have an insufficient BS and # of attacks) What do you guys think?
Well, you see, Attacks have nothing to do with Crisis Suits and how well they do. Not at all. *shrug*Originally posted by StargateAnise@Mar 20 2005, 19:44

As a unit, I think Crisis Suits are very much worth it and if used right are all but invulnerable. That's just me, though, and some people will say differently.
It would definitely save you some points, but it would also definitely give you a lacking of AP2 firepower.
I've consdiered doing something like this before. I want to field 3 full squads of Stealth Teams though. The problem with running 2 HQ suits is that they can be targeted even if their within 6" of each other. Their save makes them juicy Lascannon targets and it is an instakill or a 4 up save. If you go with this and they both die you've lost 220 points. That's a sixth of your force in a 1500 point game. It just doesn't work out. Also, because of the points, you have a low model count which isn't that good. Tanks, even skimmers, are not hard to kill with concentrated fire, assault marines with melta bombs, or even special weapons in tac squads. You put a lot of faith into your Hammerheads but they are very exspensive and can kill only a few things a turn. The most ideal situation, all hits hit and all wounds wound and all armor saves fail, you're only going to kill 9 things(IC, 2 BC). That's never going to happen. I'd give an army based on these pricipals a 20/80 win/loss ratio. Go for it if you want to but don't expect much.
Actually, cook up an army list and post it. If done right this army could be played much differently and possibly, if used correctly, be a great list.

for a commander you could have two crisis suits...
I know what i would rather have. Interesting idea, id like to see how it turns out, and good luck to ya.
The avatar is the emperor as a pimp. Well, i like it.
I actually use something similar, i have a crisis suit commander, 2 bodygaurds, but 2 normal crisis suits, my power lies in my 3 hammer heads with smart missles and rail guns, and 2 squads of pathfinders, and 4 fire warrior squads, all with marker lights for ordenence blasts.
At the moment, though for lack of Crisis Suits more then anything, the only suits I bring are a pair of Shas'o suits. But they are worth their weight in friggin' gold. I face more Marines then any other race-come to think of it, I've never faced anything but Marines, Chaos and IG Armour. So, a suit that can soak up shots like a sponge, reliably take out 2 Marines a turn and can move like hell is beautiful.
However, I'm working on getting a standard Crisis Team up and running, since I still need more shots...
Burn the land and boil the sea. You can't take the sky from me.
Member of the Canadian Clan, eh.
Mech Tau Cadre: 2000 points, needs paint and magnets.
Paladins of Avalon (SW):-1500 points, needs paint.
I run a shaso with two bodygaurds, with plasma rifles and fusion blasters, and a lone shasel, with missle pod, flamer, and fusion blaster, and thats it for crisis suits. works great against marines. all i do is smile when i see a bunch of teminators arrayed in front of me.
pasta mixed with a little death is a nummy treat for you and me!
My Elite section has only 1 Crisis Team who is there solely to provide some S7 missile shots. I also disdain their poor BS, which is why I twinlink their weapons. I get all my AP2 from my HQ.
Here's my list.
