ok gentlemen(or ladies),
me and my frineds are planning 8 person 3000 point campaign, with a LOT of twists. its map based with a gothic element incorporated. i want to use a new harlie army in it and i need a little help.
so far this is my idea.
great harlie, jetbike.
2x 10 man troupes
all maxed on wargear.
1: what else should i take
2: i want to ake a Eldar seer council and a DE archon w/ incubi retinue. fluff reasons. how should i equip them?
all are cc units!
thanks in advance!
The Guardsmen Legions, we fight for the freedom!
For starters you can't take units from both craftworld eldar AND dark eldar. Its one or the other, to avoid conflict between the army.Originally Posted by Baron_Fredrick_von_Helsing

This has always been a major "meh" to be fluffwise, but rulewise this is true.Originally Posted by Tenozuma
Also, it depends on the rules you are playing - what version of the rules are you using?? Games Workshop, EldarOnline, what?
EldarOnline is much more fun, versatile, and balanced for 4th Edtion IMO....and if you're using those, you can't take an Archon or a Seer Council. But yeah.
And maxed on wargear = BAD IDEA. Your guys cost enough already and they fall quite easily to shooting. Don't wate even MORE points on 'em!
All CC units? What happens when that Land Raider pops up? Hmm. Dead Harlies.
you need harlequin wraithlords, they kick ass! They cost only 125pts with a dcannon and have a 4+ cover save. Also a few deathjesters with eldar missle launchers would be good too. I recommend you take 3 wraithlords in your army as they can take loads of shots and still survive. Also a great harlequin is not really worth it, a shadowseer is much better for the points. Its special rules are very useful. Deathjesters can stay at the back of your army and can both take out tanks and infantry, the eldar rocket launcher is very versatile and also causes pinning with the plasma shot! Also the DJ's cannot get shot at as they are independent characters and in the 4th ed you can only target independent characters if they are closest. Mimes are also very good because they can infiltrate. Try getting more basic men than maxing out on gear as mentioned above.
DE Archon with Incubi retinue can be equipped in a few ways, heres the most typical
Archon, Punisher, Drugs, Shadowfield, Tormentor Helm
2 Splinter Cannons
296 points 'Incubi retinue lite'
Archon, Punisher, Drugs, Animus Vitae, Plasma Grenades, Shadowfield, Tormentor Helm
2 Splinter Cannons
363 points 'Fully functional and packing'
Archon, Punisher, Drugs, Animus Vitae, Plasma Grenades, Xenospasm, Shadowfield, Tormentor Helm
2 Splinter Cannons
416 points 'All the bells and whistles'
That's saying he's using the rules that allow the Wraithlords, and that's also saying his opponents would let them.you need harlequin wraithlords, they kick ass! They cost only 125pts with a dcannon and have a 4+ cover save. And who do you think would play an army like that??I recommend you take 3 wraithlords in your army as they can take loads of shots and still survive. Both may see their uses, don't just discount something. If he wants to use one, then by all means, I say he should go for it.Also a great harlequin is not really worth it, a shadowseer is much better for the points.I wouldn't get TOO many of these, simply because they are expensive, and they aren't super-useful. They can't kill THAT many things very quickly. Plus, they take away from your main Troupes.Deathjesters can stay at the back of your army and can both take out tanks and infantry, the eldar rocket launcher is very versatile and also causes pinning with the plasma shot! Also the DJ's cannot get shot at as they are independent characters and in the 4th ed you can only target independent characters if they are closest.I find Death Jesters to be like wargear. They can get quite expensive, quite fast. Also, it depends on what rules are being used - I say the EO rules should be used, but that's up to the player. The EO rules are much better, IMO. Mimes are okay, but are basically the same thing. *shrug*Mimes are also very good because they can infiltrate. Try getting more basic men than maxing out on gear as mentioned above.
Here's one more Archon to throw at you:
Archon, Reaver Jetbike, Shadow Field, Punisher (you can do it on a bike, unless there's a rule I'm not reading...not reading anything, actually), Tormentor Helm, Drugs.
Reacer jetbikes slow you down compared with raiders or solo foot lords therefore I don't like them.Originally Posted by Lost Nemesis
Punishers can't be used on bikes as they are two handed weapons and only one hadned weapons may be wielded by models on a bike.
That's kind of funky, because you can give a guy on a bike two one-handed weapons and he can use them.Originally Posted by karantalsis
So why can't you use one two-handed weapon? Hmm.
Unless there's a special rule for the Reaver, 'cause SM bikes etc. don't fall under that anymore.
I suppose the logical reason would be that you can hold each weapon on the side, but if you have one big one, it has to be held right over the middle of the bike, where the steering is.Originally Posted by Lost Nemesis
I can't speak for the rules either way.
