Welcome to Librarium Online!
hi, im new to 40k and i want to start a nids army, only 1000pts, lots of my friends say i need to wait for the 4th ed to come. And since they said nids are kinda weird and strong i could start with them, and since no one in my local mall/area is playing nids, and im the only one in my area that has an attraction to aliens (lol), i guess im gonna be all alone so i need some advice from you guys. I dont want to buy the codex yet, coz as everyone says (even here ) 4th ed is nearing.
so im thinking of a VERY fast nid army, ive heard from some of my friends that played in other cities, theyve fought 2-4 nid players and have all given me feedback of being overrunned with cheap horseshit gaunts in the 2nd-3rd turn. so i think im gonna like this army ehehe.
*btw, they mentioned a "lictor", and i dunno if theyre exaggerating, coz theyre pretty cautious of that thing, what does a lictor do?*
you write down where a lictor is hiding on the board (without telling your opponent) then when his stuff get close you reveal where it is and it jumps out and attacks whatever got close to it. statwise, they're like a strong, multiwound genestealer, so not actually that impressive for their points cost. however, they're incredibly useful for tying down firebases and creating line of sight blocking cc's.
anyway, before you buy anything, i'd strongly advise you to wait till may, when the new codex comes out. as it is, no one here can help you very much because we're all waiting for the new codex too and no one knows quite whats in it.
Well anything we say may or may not apply when the new codex comes out since all we know about it is pretty much rumours :hmm:
If you do want a fast army leaping cc warriors and hormagaunts are your best bet. A Flying tyrant and some gargoyles are also good to quickly hit the opposing forces and if you want to swamp the opponent use spine gaunts (gaunts with spine fists) they are the cheapest troops choice in the tyranid army.
