Welcome to Librarium Online!
my opponent plays with 4 units of 10 warriors with 2 splinter cannons in 3 units and 2 dark lances in the other unit. he uses a raider with wytches in it, a ravager with 3 dissintegraters on it, and a unit of mandrakes.I can't remember the HQs he has but he uses the one where you can capture your opponents guys for victory points. I think he might have another HQ choice.

I haven't won against him yet, and we have played almost 10 games now.

I used to play DE long before I joined the swarm and I have been wondering as of late how I would take on my old army. They must be a tough force for the nids with the sheer volume of shots from S.C. and rifles taking out almost all small units and the D. Lances and Disses taking out all the bigger guys. I do have a few suggestions though.
I couldn't see your army, but from the looks of his you are probably playing a 1000 pt game (more or less?) and in a game that size a ravager is a little overpowered, but it is also expensive for what it gives. Most DE players wouldn't take a ravager until bigger games. It is the most expensive unit that the DE have (barring the amazing archons of death). So, show him what a waste it is. A 'fex with 2 VC or even a HT (though I would use my HT for CC) would blow apart the ravager quickly. I used to spend all my time avoiding all strong weapons with my skimmers and the nids have one of the greatest blast weapons in the game... the biovore!
With a biovore you can lay down 3 mines on (hopefully) three different sides of his skimmers and effectively keep them stationary. With the new rules of open-top skimmers being even harsher than they were before he will be forced to completely avoid or shoot at the mines taking both time and/or fire power. When the biovore (or MCs) have taken care of the skimmers the biovore can lay waste to his squads. If a decent sized force of wyches survives the fall from the skimmer than they will perish quickly from the spore mine blasts, and if not the wyches then then warriors can been blown apart. Remember that almost everything in the DE army has paper armor.
A... *looks over shoulder to make sure Uzi isn't around*... B. Strangler might not be that bad if it is on a carnifex, or even a HT, in this case. With the wyches having a 6+ Sv vs. shots, the Warriors 5+, and everything you listed, even the Archon/Drachon (and I assume the other is a Haemonculous) having a 3 toughness you should be able to wipe out large sections of his army at a time with it.
The key to the battle will be to use your superior strong firepower (TMC's with V.C. are just as good as D.Lances in this case and TMC's have much higher staying power than his skimmers. Just make sure to keep them in cover) to take out his CC units (HQ's and wyches) and then let your army have its way with his warriors in CC just like they would against any other army.
Small things to consider are: make sure you have enough cover, b/c otherwise nids cannot survive the DE. period. Too good at shooting and too many shots.
Your gaunts are going to go second in CC, always, so make sure you don't bother with init., or for that matter with a lot of the biomorphs. Just use them to tie him up and maybe give them S. Fists and/or leaping (just leaping if you have enough models to use the points on more gaunts).
If you have a lictor model this might be the perfect game for it since it can tie up one of those D. Lance models for a turn at least.
Make sure you keep his archon away from your TMCs. Archons are used to leader/MC killing. The shadowfield that they use is a lot more likely to go down to a group of gaunts than it is to a 'fex or a HT and you are likely to take quite a few wounds knocking it out. If you can blast the archon with spore mines and B. Strangler shots than that is another way to keep him away from your big nasties that can rip apart squads of the warriors at a time.
Stand-and-shoot until the DE are in range, then assault. Sorry for not doing this with more depth, but there are quite recent pointers I've given on 'Nids Vs DE... I'd believe aufde has read them.--- It's up to what You intend the 'Fex to do... I'd have it with VCannons to provide anti-vehicle firepower. Another reason I suggest VCannons is because most people tend to glue their bioweapons on permanently... And in that case the VCannon is(/was, considering we're switching editions) clearly the superior choice IMO, especially if building an all-rounder list.Originally Posted by Menthalas
Of course, if You have gone through the task of pinning some magnets on the 'Fex, feel free to exchange the weaponry as You see fit... In this case, a BStrangler 'Fex might come in handy if the DE doesn't have too many vehicles since the combined 'Fex + 'Vore firepower should decimate the DE rather quickly.
Perhaps this is a distinction (glued bioweapons >< exchangeable bioweapons) I should've stated earlier, rather than just diss the BStrangler straight off. Then again, I also dislike specializing armies towards specific opponents to an extent, which led the BStrang into falling out of favour in my swarms. And of course the fact that BStrang probably causes the most confusion of all the bioweapons. >_<
I can not deny that in certain specialty applications and when it's weaknesses are taken into account, a BStrangler will be a decent, perhaps even a good choice. I still place priority on VCannons and Biovores in general-purpose swarms, though!--- As far as I know, Gaunts with AdrG Init will strike simultaneously with many DE which is IMO immensely preferable to striking after. Also to my knowledge DE in general do not have a special rule which would allow them to always strike first.Your gaunts are going to go second in CC, always, so make sure you don't bother with init.,
If I have erred, I would like to hear why this is so and where it is stated. =)
Then again, there are quite many DE units which do strike before the AG I Gaunts... So perhaps AG I isn't a necessity. Catalyst for Psyker creatures might prove rather useful.
