can someone tell me why almost everyone say scorges suck
Because you get other things which perform just as good or even better for the same cost or less.
What do you like about scourges?
that they can deep strike into cover and fire 17 shots with cannons taking down alot of enemys plus they can always deep strike
Deep Strike into cover is bad, you have to roll for scatter for deep striking and if you land in cover you die!, also when you scourges fly into cover and you roll to see if they crash or not. I was playing a game i used 10 scourges and they lasted for 3 turns. They cost double of everything in points to a warrior and in points for a weapon.
Scourges cost twice as much as a standard warrior and the only difference is that they move 6'' more. Besides that they can take 2 more heavy weapons BUT to get those heavy weapons you pay ALOT more then the warriors heavy weapon cost. The scourges aint resilient and a to expensive unit warriors outmatch them in almost every aspect and thats why alot of ppl say they suck because the warrior is simply better.
However with that statement out of the way, I would say listen to ArchonBjorn. He has a really good tendency to not say stupid things and give bad advice.Learn from yesterday.

That's pretty much it. If you wanted them for Dark Lances, buy two sniper squads. Cost a little more, but a lot more bodies protecting the heavy weapons, and hey, you may not have the mobility, but with 2 squads you can cover more fire lanes.
If you wanted them for Splinter Cannons, well, quite frankly, if they're in range to shoot something and don't kill it, then that thing can generally shoot back. So they're only really useful on the first turn that they drop in, then expect them to die. And their points cost for 1 turn of use is prohibitive at best. Personally, if you want fast heavy hitters, I'd take Jetbikes. I take 2 Blasters in a squad of 5. If they die, it was only 145 points, and if they kill a tank, they've generally made their points back. Not to mention that they still get a save against bolters/pulse rifles/shuricats/hellguns/splinter rifles/(you get my drift).
Now, if they could take Blasters, that'd be good. But, as it is, Warriors are simply better.
