is the destroyer necron lord worth the extra points? or are you better off getting the regular one? post your opinion...
i believe the only use to take the extra movement and toughness that comes with a destroyer body is either taking it against low str. armies in cc to make it even harder to hurt him and to take him with wraiths. wraiths go along with him to amp their great cc abilities
I'm a big fan of my destroyer lord. The toughness jump he makes is a pretty solid threshold, the warscythe is a monster of a weapon, and that destroyer body gets him into CC by turn 2 on most boards. Add to that the capacity for some nice wargear options (phase shifter/nightmare shroud and res orb are common ones) and you've got a wonderful addition to your army.
The destroyer lord is only good when paired with wraiths, and some times scarabs. give him some cc boosters, like warscythe, and phaze shifter, and go hunting hq's and mc's. The regular lord is good for baby-sitting jobs, hanging back with the warriors providing res orb goodness, and helping in the counter charge. Foot lords are also a much better choice for vod strike squads. Take a lord with vod, and res orb, hook him up with a immortal squad, and kill that enemy tank on your first turn. It would definatly be a good investement to buy both, especially because you can, and sometimes should, feild both.
if you choose to have a destroyer lord does that mean that you only have 70 points to spend on other wargear?
The destroyer body does count toward the wargear allotment, but note that the scythe doesn't.
is the regular necron lord allowed to upgrade to a warscythe?

I don't like the Destroyer Lord... taking a Destroyer Body means your Lord can no longer join units of Warriors or Immortals.
All he can join are units of Destroyers, HDestroyers, Wraiths, or Scarabs... All of those, with the exception of Scarabs, have low unit sizes... which actually makes your Lord more vulnerable to being killed.
I find a Lord with Veil of Darkness to be more diverse, more mobile, harder to kill, and just as effective in close combat if you position properly.
i would say that the foot lord and destroyer lord serve different purposes in your army the D-lord is a fast hard hitting unit, and the foot lord augments the rest of your army, so it depends on your style of play, and who your're facing. i like to take one of each.
i would argue that increased mobility isn't a reason for taking the foot lord with veil of darkness , as to put it to use you will have to put it with a large squad of imortals, and this severely limits the places it can teleport to,as an 11 man squad that scatters 2d6 doesn't have many safe places to go on a standard map.
